![]() Obama is weak, but the American strategy is to avoid direct confrontation with Israel, rather to bring forther adversaries against Israel to challenge it. This i what America has done bringing forth Turkey as a regional power player. Turkey has increased its regional influence and opposed Israel as part of America's effort to contain Israel and force it to comply with America's regional plans (evnthough America continues to favor Israel over others). Remember, America's interests and power is global while Israel's is merely regional. And while Obama may say it doesn't want Palestine to have statehood without Israel's approval, the reality is America prefers Abbas and the PA in power in Palestine, and Abbas' action serves to empower Abbas and win Palestinian support, so it one way, Abbas' action coencides with America's plans. Statehood for Palestine is an American regional plan, not an Islamic plan. Nationalism is worthless. However, if Abbas or Hamas called for an Islamic state which uinfied the regional Arab nations, it would be in opposition to America. And Allah knows best. |
