A dent in the universe? No, not even a scratch without iman.

May Allah guide his offspring, and all those inspired by him, towards Islam through this perfect demonstration of the impermanence of life, ameen.

Yes, what's wrong with it. Aren't they created by Allah

I was hoping for a legal ruling, well we can say on death of a non muslim as per following fatwa.

http://www.askimam.org/fatwa/fatwa.p...fed209d2db0292

Further instaed of contemplating words of condolences and sympathy we should ponder as to what is the final abode of this non-muslim and how fickle is our imaan.

Plumbing is fitting Quran/Hadith to suit yourself.

When you give bad dua to a kafir, people will come and tell you, Oh please don't give bad dua rahter make dua for him. It's sunnah this that.

So what about sunnah of giving bad dua?

Well, I never made any dua for him... I just said the way he talked and lived is a lesson for muslims.

WHY is this on an Islamic forum? Who cares about the death of a non-Muslim? Will his death make the conditions of the Muslims around the world better or worse?

I am sickened by the level of response Muslims are giving to the death of a non-Muslim. Why has this thread even reached 3 pages???

Whenever we mourn the death of a non-Muslim and praise him when Allah has prepared for him an eternal fire, we true are at a loss. And for that, I say ...

3 Apples changed the world; 1st seduced Eve, 2nd fell on Newton and the 3rd was offered to the world half bitten by Steve Jobs.

Link is pasted below of the Saudi Gazette interview with his Syrian Muslim 80 year old father.

An excerpt from it:

But even so, Jandali has not been to Syria for over 35 years. “Not because I don’t want to, but because of the worry which affects an emigrant when he wants to go back to his home country after so many years, and over what might await him there. I’m thinking of visiting Lebanon and Abu Dhabi next summer to see relatives,” he said.
He doesn’t hide his nostalgia. “I miss my family in Syria. When I left, my closest relatives were still alive. I miss my culture and society and the tight social bonds between relatives as well as the standard of living. Here in the United States there is technological advancement and abundant opportunities for growth and work, but it’s not life itself, and while one appreciates the individual freedoms in western societies, there are times when you really feel that you are alone, that you don’t have the moral family support that you have in the east. I’m not talking about one’s mother or father, but the wider family, relatives, that entity that makes you feel you are part of it, that’s what I miss most about my home country. Of course I miss the social life and wonderful food, but the most important thing is the outstanding cultural attributes which in general you don’t find in the West.

“If I had the chance to go back in time, I wouldn’t leave Syria or Lebanon at all. I would stay in my home country my whole life. I don’t say that out of emotion but out of common sense. I think I’ve wasted my energies and talents in the wrong place and in the wrong society. But that’s just theoretical talk, and what’s happened has happened.” So what remains of his Syrian identity and Arabic culture after nearly 60 years in America?

“I’m a non-practicing Muslim and I haven’t been on the Haj, but I believe in Islam in doctrine and culture, and I believe in the family. I have never experienced any problem or discrimination in the United States because of my religion or race. Other than my accent which might sometimes suggest that I’m from another country, I have completely integrated in society here. I advise young Arabs coming here, however, to get a university degree and not prolong their stay, as there are lots of opportunities in the Arab World today, particularly in the Gulf. The good minds of the Arab world must stay there, as they might be able to help their countries there more than they can here.

Someone on here introduced me to the videos of this Shaykh.
It's about who OUR heroes are..
Please watch it if you can..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvsxM7agy64

It's so easy to forget being in the world as we are.. what the true criteria for success are... is it designing beautiful consumer electronics? or is it being excellent in everything we do.. in how we treat others, in how we behave in the world?

This is the problem with most of the muslims.. They just hush away all big people saying they are not-muslims.. But they never think when a non-muslim could do so much, why we, as muslim can't do anything..

There is lesson for us in everything on this earth..

I am sorry most people are missing the purpose of this thread. I just wanted to share his inspiration and that is death. A non Muslim is inspired by it that he is able to be an inspiration for millions if not billions.

Please read the quote in the OP

Why were the Salaf and Aaliya able to achieve so much within such a short span of time. They constantly remembered DEATH. Today, the calamity of this Ummah is that they have succumbed to wahan - love of this world and lack of desire of death.

I request all members to read the attached quote. Verily, wisdom is the lost treasure of a believer. Where ever he finds it he takes it

I found the original post a decent read especially that he reflected on death and made it an integral part of his focal point in what he did.

I work in marketing and therefore have been inspired in certain respects of how marketing played a pivoting role in product placement especially with technology. Steve Jobs inspiration is 'the work and business side' of me, however something I leave at the door of the office.

Did his lifes work have any inspiration for me personally? No!

Is any of his innovations relevant for what a society requires as Muslims or non-Muslims, No! I do not believe so. Did any of his innovations improve the world for what it requires, No!

Did he invent electricity. No!
Did he invent the computer, No!
Did he invent the internet, No!
Did he invent mp3 players, No!
Did he invent the mobile phone, No!
Did he invent tablets, No!
Did he invent cloud computing, No!

As a Muslim we should understand that in the simplicity of the Sunnah of the beloved Prophet [peace be upon him] is the innovation that society requires to progress. No one has reinvented communication better then the beloved Prophet [Peace be Upon him]. No push notification can bring more comfort than when he [Peace be upon] said 'when you smile at your wife and she smiles back at you then Allah smiles back at both of you' [paraphrased].

For the record I do not have a single Apple product. I do not see the value in them since identical or even better products are available on the market.
