Why did he define 'pride' according to a hadith, but failed to address how 'pride' is an english word and its meaning is dominated by how its used by America. Did the Prophet (saw) speak english?

Patriotism is a 'concept' which is new, but its based on an instinctive response which all people have known, even animals know: fight or flight response. Thus, its instinct based, but it is formulated for America in particular to mean "my country, wrong or right". Thus, defense of the homeland at all costs even if it goes against any moral standards, even from God. This is the dominant meaning of patriotism in Western civilization in modern times.

And by citing the fatwa by shaykh Rida, this individual positions himself on similar footing: in capitulation to Western dominion. Nationalism was part of what the kufar imperialists espoused and wanted in order to divide the Muslim Ummah. At the time in the Southeast Asia, the Ummah was represented by the sultanate of Brunei which at its height comprised of the island of Borneo, the Thai pennisular, Mindinao, and islands south. Thus, if the sultanated had been revived, it would have consttituted todays nations of south Thailand, south Phillipines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei- all in one. But the kufar wanted to divide the Muslims and keep them weak, thus, nationalism.

and this "shaykh" endorses Rida's fatwa and nationalism? At the time,

more later insha Allah.
