As salaam alaikum wa rahmatullah,
I have a question regarding Raqis who ask patients for your mother's name. It has been claimed that such Raqis are in-fact fortune tellers and that they practise an illegitimate method of performing Ruqya. My question is, if the claim is true then where is the proof to support such a claim? My reason for asking such is that I know of some individuals who are considered very pious and who (apparently) have no wordly interests, and they practise Ruqya by asking for the patient's mother's name. If what you have claimed is true, then we are placing an enormous accusation/claim upon the head of many individuals who otherwise would have been considered men of Taqwa and Wara'. Also, it is of no use answering by requesting potential patients to ask them why they ask for the mother's name. The reason is simply that, when a claim has been made it must be substantiated by the claimant. Therefore, I ask for substantial proof in acknowledging and proving that asking for a patient's mother's name is a form of shirk and indicative of Jinn usage and fortune telling. |
