Default Questioning
As Salamu Aleikum dear siblings in Islam,

I've recently had a lot of bugging, terrifying thoughts. It gets to a level that makes me wish to lock myself up in a room and keep in there just to ensure I am not engaged in anything haram, kufr or shirk. I feel totally overstrained, am unable to cope with situations, statements. I feel kinda loaded with doubts, fear, sadness and depression. I do not know what to do. I am questioning so many things in my life. Questioning is good to ensure you are pious and not engaged in impermissible things but I am not quite sure whether some of this questioning is related to OCD or waswas. (Is that the same or is there a difference, by the way?) Because it gives me a feel of panic and hysteria, which I know from an obsession to wash my hands, desinfect things and other stuff, which Shukr AlhamdulIllah has decreased and Shukr AlhamdulIllah is almost gone

What can I do, I am kinda going crazy?

You can read the following:

1) Surah Ahqaaf - 1 time
2) Surah Muzammil - 11 times

Durood Shareef before and after 7 times.

3) Durood abundantly all the time.

This will help you get rid of doubts, fears, sadness and depression.

JazakAllahu Khairan to both of you.

Do you think it would be bad to do Tawbah for thoughts about which I am not sure whether they are mine or whether they are waswas?

Could you suggest me some Durood for I only know the one after Adhan and the one which is said during Salah.

I just searched and came accross some which referred to Muhammad (saw) in the English translation as "master" and I would like to know whether that is permissible. I thought Allah ta'ala alone is our master. Please help me out if I understand something wrong. I am still a new Muslim and, due to my crazy thoughts, don't want to make a mistake here.

The problem is with translating "Sayyid" as "Master/Lord", and the general implications that this word has in European languages.

But in Arabic is completely fine; there are ahadith in which the Prophet himself said he's the "Sayyid" of the sons of Adam (alayhi assalam).

O Allah! Bestow blessings upon Sayyidina Muhammad, our Master and his Family, such blessings by means of which Thou may relieve us of all anxieties and calamities. Thou may satisfy all our needs. Thou may clean us of all evils and thanks for which Thou may grant us high position and high rank and status in Thy presence, and Thou may lead us to the utmost limit of our aspirations and capacity in whatever is best in this world as well as in the world Hereafter, as Thou has the full Power over everything

Syed means like Elder, Leader, Master not in the sense of being Allah.

Syed also means Ameer of a group.

Like it is in Hadith:

سيد القوم خادمها

The Ameer/Leader of a Nation is their servant.

May Allah make things easy for you sister.

The best weapon against the shaitaan with these kinds of waswas is to seek ilm. That way you can know what is shirk, what is kufr, what is haraam, and what is halal. Remember everything is halal until proven haraam except in religious issues in which case its not allowed until proven that it will bring you closer to Allah.

So if your doing deen issues (such as aqeedah, ibaadah etc) then stay away from anything which is not proven.

In dunya affairs, its halal for you until someone brings daleel.

Learn learn learn ukhti, its the solution to teh ummahs problems.

If you find yourself doutbful about an affair that has no evidence, e,g, your chewing gum and you start panicking, thinking what if chewing gum is haraam, just think "halal till proven haraam" and then chew away inshAllah. Doing the opposite of the waswas is usually a good tactic as its tires teh shaytaan out and makes him give up and go home in a grump and try find some other people to bother to cheer himself up

That's my fault as I thought it was the word "sayyid" to having been translated as "master", while it is "Maulana".

Anyway, the point is the same: the problem is only related to the "idea" we have of the term "master" in European languages, while here "Mawla" has another meaning, completely different to the meaning by which Allah is our only Lord and Master.
