that's some nice aims you have fixed yourself. That is encouraging for you and us.
You're right we won't learn and reform ourselves through jidal on the internet.
Your idea of fixing objectives and then coming back after a few years is great, may be you should open a new thread so many people participate in it.

Remember us in your du'as.
id love to inshAllah. If there is demand for it, id love a thread for us to create some objectives and help each other progress in short and long term. who else is in and how should we go about it?

why bro, we are going through qurtubi, mishkaat, mukhtasar al qaduri and many more classical works. How many classical books of ilm have you been through so far? Brother Dawud, I believe that people who believe in Wahdatul Wujud are out of the fold of Islam, So if the Mufti you are going to believes in Wahdatul Wujud then can't you see why, I worry about you brother. I'm a former Shia Brother when I became Sunni, I followed the Maliki Madhab, I'm now Following Ahle Hadith, I have a Ahle Hadith Shaykh who I will be studying with soon Insha'Allah. Why not study with Ahle Hadith/Salafi Shaykh???

What came to mind when reading your post is to set a personnal objective (learn such surahs, improve such thing) to accomplish before a set date (like 1 year, or 3), a long one so that regular efforts will be necessary and then we only up the thread on the specific date thus many will participate in the challenge bi idhnillah, with the whole internet being witness to our pledges : that should motivate the weak-ones like us. Dunno what other people think about it.

there isnt any in sheffield. Plus I prefer to study the hanafi madhab. I dont believe itws wajib on you to follow madhab so by all means do what you wish but please respect if I wish to study a madhab, its ok to learn a madhab. i dont wish to have any fitnah with you bro, especially as you left shia to become ahlas sunnah, alhamdulillah tahts great news bro, im very happy, may Allah keep you firm and bless you in your studies

p.s. he doesnt believe in wahdatul wujood. alhamdulillah he's not dodgey. in tafseer last night he was showing how the barelwis are wrong about teh prophet being present because suratul qasas says the prophet wasnt there in the time of musa on ayah 45 of suratul qasas. bro honestly he's very orthodox mashAllah, no dodgey business

deobandis dont believe in wahdatul wujood though bro

Best wishes.
I'll be honest. I do not feel any pity for you whatsoever.

I only feel great envy that you have embarked on such a beautiful path of study =) (and i have not yet)
All the best,
and please, do not rise to everyone who tries to needle you. There is great sawab in silence. That eloquent void has a great majesty all of its own =),
take care

abdul azim please hold back on the takfeer as its a serious issue.

i have the book you mentioned. it does highlight a problem as the deobandis defend some dangerous individuals. however you should understand that they arent defending the ideas of the people, they are saying they dont mean what we think they mean. i think this is dangerous, but it isnt kufr akbar. i have no love for ibn arabi, believe me ive debated that issue here e nough times, but people here say we dont know the real meaning to his poems, they dont say they believe in his kufr. its an important distinction bro.

bro, i recommend to learn aqeedah from the ahlal hadeeth (sorry guys), no doubt you wil learn the correct aqeedah inshAllah from them, but dont join any group, know that the ahlal hadeeth can be wrong on an issue, deobandis can be wrong on an issue etc. but they are all in the fold of islam and so we can cooperate in whats good and learn what benefits us and leave what isnt good. hence why there is no problem studying an nawawi even though he was ashari, or ibn hazm even though he was mu'tazili, because all that goooooooood cannot be outweighed by their small mistakes.

i advise to stick to shaykh haitham al haddads organisation mrdf, al maghrib, mercy mission, al kawthar, green lane and jamiah ahlal hadeeth, bilal phillips and his online university, iera, and all those brothers if your in the uk. they have salafi aqeedah but are very moderate in dealing with other groups that arent out of the fold of islam. bare in mind that none of the salafi ulema made takfeer of the deobandis, wheras they did with barelwis, shia, qadiyanis etc. deobandis are closest to the haqh out of all the groups. so stcik with them, cooperate with them, dont follow ahlal hadeeth in their harshness on deobandis, tawfique choudry and yasir qadhi have sound aqeedah but tell us to work with deobandis and not attack them.

your an ex shia bro, inshallah you can use your experience to help us in our war on shia doctrine. if your going to attack any group, deos should be the last group you attack bro. i had a friend who became salafi btw after leaving shia islam, he was from bahrain. he gave me salafi dawah when i was with the naqshbandi haqqanis.

be realistic bro if you write off the deobandis and ahlal kalaam, you write off the taliban, imam nawawi, ibn hajr, salahuddin, and the list goes on. we need unity withthe deobandis, lets focus our efforts on barelwis and haqqanis and shia and qadiyanis and secularists and liberals and modernists etc inshallah who are a far greater threat for sure. at least the deos support the shariah and they leave off serious innovations etc.

please consider this issue with an open heart inshallah, some zealous new salafis are harming any attempt at unity between deos and salafis so think carefully as you may do more harm than good

brother,

SubhanAllah brother, that's indeed very encouraging. May I ask how you manage to fit all that in your schedule? I mean with your profession, and family and other things? InshaAllah, I wish to learn so much about deen but I just don't know where to start and how. Half my day goes by studying my books for my exam, a few hours in the kitchen and the daily chores at home, and some time with my husband. The little time I get I try to read some online books etc.

Any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated, inshaAllah

P.S: Will look forward to your notes.

MashaAllaah, very inspiring.
If not too personal, could I ask what your daily schedule would be like?
I know you are married; so how would you endeavour in earning halaal rizq, giving time to family, and taking part in all the halaqas you mention in the first post?
i am only asking for better understanding.

wa alaykum salaam sister

firstly, you need to get rid of any time wasting. analyse your week and think what do you do that is time wasting? TV? etc

secondly. noone became scholars by seeking in lectures after lectures and random talks and lessons. have a sturcture and plan to seeking knowledge. i recommend a book called ettiquettes of seeking knowledge by shaykh bakr abu zayd. learn how to seek knowledge first. plan a path. think what time you have and then make a pathway. e.g. if you have 1 hour a week for ilm, and you decide first you'd like to learn arabic and memorse the qur'an, so 30mins for each. then decide which surahs to memorise 9going backward through the qur'an is sensible from jz amma). for arabic, you can self teach the madinah books for example, or join a class and do your homework. basically, have a cirriculum and a plan for ilm. dont just turn up to random lectures. go to the ones you need to progress. so if qur'an is on the list, attend a qur'an class every week. if arabic is on the list, attend the arabic class. but make sure its in keeping with what your learning. not too advance, not to easy. the sciences are qur;an, arabic, tafseer, hadeeth, fiqh, usool al fiqh, usool al tafseer, science of hadeeth, seerah and histort, grammer and morphology etc, so tehre is a lot to learn so a path way plan is very important start. please do read the book, it helped me emmensely plus it tell yous the manners you shoudl have with your shaikh, ettotquetes to adorn yourself with etc.

perhaps you and your husband can study together as your form of spending time? read qur'an, attend circle etc togeter.

exam times are busier so maybe you will do more after exam times are finished. make sure to make some time for ilm, as much as you can, as we would want to live 100% of time for dunya and 0% for Allah, that would be like turning up to a bring a dish dinner party emtpy handed on the yawmil quiyama. inshAllah you want to have lots of fruits to bring to the yawmil quiyama, Allah has given us this dunya to enjoy our portion of, but we should portion some of our time for Allah too. ilm is one of the greatest forms of ibaadah

wa alaykum salaam.

the thing is, many of us dont realise how much time we waste, but believe me, when you cut out the time wasting you will find that you have sufficient time for circles and ilm. the circles i attend add up to a total of only 3 or 4 hours a week, but i only attend what i need to progress.

dont turn up to deen things that are beneficial, but not getting you anywhere. like a 1 hour lecture to raise your iman, could have been 1 hour of memorising qur'an.

believe me, we are only required to work around 40 hours per week maximum to earn a halal living.

24 hours in a day, 8 of them spent sleeping. 16 hours in your day is spent awake. take an hour off for toilet visits and meals and other mundane things. thats 15 hours, times 7, 105 hours in the week you can use for family, work, and deen. 40 divided by 7 is about 6 hours a day. that leaves 9 hours for family and deen. if your spending 9 hours on looking after family, you have a very high maintenence family in all honesty. We all know that our time is being wasted on rubbish. So cut teh rubbish out and use that newly gained time for ilm. I recommend everyone try to schedule in 5 hours of their week exclusively for their ilmplan inshAllah. 5 hours a week is nothing but inshAllah if your consistent you will make progress. read the surah your memorising 6 times every morning after fajr. then set aside 2 hours for a dars. or set up as you see appropriate. after fajr is the best time for memorisation though.

we all know we waste time. we have time for posting and arguing online so surely we have time for learning the deen of Allah and our ticket to jannah inshAllah

How can raising your imaan not get you anywhere? That's an oxymoron. After raising imaan, the natural result is memorizing more Qur'an and doing more hasanaat like learning the laws of Deen etc.
