Salam dear brothers & sisters
Im considering to apply for jobs in UAE. I recently came to known that the job I do in London I would have been paid triple the money without tax in Dubai! I have confidence that I will get a job there because I got all the necessary qualifications and experience. It is also a good way to move to a Islamic country. However, I'm not sure if it is permissible according to Islamic law for me to travel to a foreign country to work & live there. Any advice would be highly appreciated! JzaKALLAH |

I may add that am not considering to leave my job out of pure greed, but we are going through a major restructure at the moment so my job might be on the line!! Walaikum assalam WW huh when it comes to Islam, isnt Dubai a worst place. Anyway I think it is not allowed for women to travel alone like that unless accompanied by a mahram. I hope some scholar will reply. wassalam |

Salam dear brothers & sisters I dont see a problem with you migrating (after all Prophet himself migrated) so you should be alright I remember sometimes back The Economist Magazine placed Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the top twenty most expensive cities in the world to live and Mercer HR Consulting placed them at at a similar level respectively. The cost of living in Dubai has increased rapidly, and the same has occurred in Abu Dhabi more recently. There used to a point in time where Dubai was a lot more expensive to live than in Abu Dhabi, but that is probably different and what you could say about Abu Dhabi is that it is less easy to live as cheap as you potentially could do in Dubai, predominatly due to location and where you can live. That said, living in Dubai is now out in "new Dubai" where all the sky high towers require you to have a car to drive into town. So, it's less easy to live without a car, for example, in Dubai. 1. Do you have a family 2. How much your housing allowance is (if you have 1) 3. Where you work.(industry) 4. Where you manage to get your children into school ( if you have them) Anyway if you have more questions plse fire away and will try to help as much as I can................ |

Salam alikum,
I think this thread is not about travelling but about moving to muslim and possibly islamic country. I thonk if our sister has chance to emigrate to place where she can practise better, she should do it. The travelling as such can be solved. “Verily, as for those whom the angels take (in death) while they are wronging themselves (as they stayed among the disbelievers even though emigration was obligatory for them), they (angels) say (to them): “In what (condition) were you?” They reply: “We were weak and oppressed on the earth.” They (angels) say: “Was not the earth of Allaah spacious enough for you to emigrate therein?” Such men will find their abode in Hell — what an evil destination!” [al-Nisa’ 4:97]. |

the hadeeth says three days. She wil only be travelling less than a day. She will not be considered as a traveller once she takes residence in dubai. In hanafi fiqh you wouldnt be considered a traveller if you went to dubai to live for a year, and you wouldnt take the hukms that apply to a traveller. |

So does that mean I'm permitted to move to Dubai without mehrem? |

So does that mean I'm permitted to move to Dubai without mehrem? If someone tells you its haraam they need to bring the evidence, not the other way around. So far one hadeeth was brought to you and that mentioned travelling for more than three days and your only going to be travelling for about 8 hours. Dont let people make haraam for you what Allah didnt make haraam for you as this is the behaviour of the mushrikeen |

So does that mean I'm permitted to move to Dubai without mehrem? I advise you to move. I wont say its halal as to make something halal or haraam is a heavy burden, but in light of the situation here in the UK Id say move and never look back inshAllah. Take a brother with you on the plane if possible inshAllah but either way, europe is no place for a muslim, we all need to be leavingin ASAP inshALlah |
