As-salamu a'laykum,
I am to start an online interfaith diablog with some Catholic friends of mine. I have a decent working knowledge of Catholicism. As such I may not be aware with the type of questions most Muslims would like to pose to Catholics or Christians in general. Please feel free to post anything you would like to ask - even if close to the bone - because they are very close friends and we are open and honest with each other. I'll post a link to the blog when the initial articles are ready insha'Allah. Ma'salama |

Salam Alaykum,
One of the main issues with Christianity in general is that they have denied the uniqueness of God when they claim that one of "God's Attributes" had an literal manifestation (incarnation) in the observable universe. It is the same whether this matter is kept within the sphere of "God the Father" or "God the Holy Ghost" (as they believe) since they claim that such 'deities' have or had actual and literal direct physical interactions with the Created Universe. Basically the objection we Muslims have about the theology of every single non-Muslim religion is their joining of mutually contradictory characteristics into one Being, and then passing this off as their standard view about God. So from my view, all the discussions and questions should be primarily directed in this way. The matter of Muhammad's (Salla Allahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) Messengership is also something to be considered, but if it can be shown that the so-called 'gods' cannot possibly exist and that only Allah as understood in Islam is the only Divine Being that can possibly exist, the person with a sound mind and a clean heart (that is, a heart that does not go against what the mind has understood) should embrace Islam. |
