The "Maryamiyya" branch is NOT an authentic branch of the Shadhiliyya. The practices and teachings of Frithjouf Schoun, who founded the Maryamiyya after having visions of a nude woman he claimed was the mother of sayyidina 'Isa

[QUOTE=KnowOneGod;648047]Does anyone know any mureeds or shaykhs of this branch, The Maryamiyya branch of the Shadhiliyya Order?????
assalamu alaykum, People should refrain from commenting on what they don't really know about. I have actually met mureeds of the order and they are orthodox Muslims who clearly progress spiritually from the barakah of the tariqa. |

Nonsense. Schuon and his band of cultists have been exposed for what they are. To paint nude images of the "mother of all Prophets" and "substance of original sanctity" is not orthodox behaviour. It is blasphemy. Allah |

Does anyone know any mureeds or shaykhs of this branch, The Maryamiyya branch of the Shadhiliyya Order????? Although there is more than one living Shaykh of the Maryammiya Shadhiliya order which is widespread and very alive alhamdulillah, the foremost living Shaykh of the Order is Seyyed Hossein Nasr (Shaykh Abu Bakr--Martin Lings--passed away in 2005, ra). I have been blessed by Allah (swt) and His Rasool (saw) to be a mureed of this Shaykh (Shaykh Hossein Nasr). This Shaykh has hundreds of murids from around the world. As I have met the majority of them, I know them all to be muttaqi (God-fearing) Muslims who are certainly orthodox Muslims who have progressed upon the Path to their Lord (swt), as Abu Hadi has graciously indicated. My personal positions on Islamic universality, Islamic Finality and Perennialism can be found in the various posts on the subject on this forum. In short, I believe a Muslim can have a universalist position on Ultimate Truth and Salvation--which is clearly Islamic--and uphold the pre-eminence of the salvific Path of Sayiduna Muhammad (saw) without detriment to their Islam. There is a range of possibilities here which do not 'compromise' one's Islamic integrity. In any case, Tassawuf is not an ideology or doctrine, it is a spiritual path within the framework of Traditional Islam (understood by me to include both Traditional forms of mainstream Sunni Islam and mainstream Shiism) in which one emulates to the best of their ability the uswatul hasana, Sayiduna Muhammad (saw) inwardly and outwardly. The maqamat are nothing other than inward and outward crystillizations of the Spiritual substance and nur of our beloved Prophet (saw), whose Path has been miraculously preserved, outwardly and inwardly from the time of its Origin, to the present and IA to the end of time as promised by the Quran and Sunnah. Such a path is taken through a Friend of Allah's who is intimately connected to Prophet (saw), to that Origin here and now. I see no problems in the Tariqa Maryamiya's connection to the Shadhiliya as far as it relates to the Tassawuf embodied and lived by Seyyidi Shaykh Hossein Nasr as his tassawuf does not contradict nor contravene the Shariah. And I know this through personal and spiritual experience and very close attachment to this Shaykh for over 10 years. There is no need for those who do not posess true knowledge of the situation to make sweeping judgements regarding such issues and be so harsh as to make takfiri statements upon practicing Muslims whom they do not know. As for perennial philosophy, Islamic universalism, the issue of salvation of non-Muslims, the 'extent' of the 'validity' of other religions preceeding Islam, the spiritual status and merits of saints/mystics of other religions, there is ample diversity and range of positions among our Shuyukh within Ahl as Sunnah wal Jammah, past and present. I have been on the scene long enough to benefit from many present day well-known Shuyukh who have had a range of positions on these topics, all of whom know of and respect, my personal affiliations with the Tariqa Maryamiya-Shadhilliya. I will try to email you personally some time IA if possible. If you are still interested I would be more than happy to answer any question, whether doctrinal or methodical concerning the Tariqa in private. If your gmail address is your screen name here, then it should be no problem. Wa Salaam, Hasan |
