Default Is shisha halal?
My question is, is shisha halal?

Because my friends were planning to do shisha for EID and I have never done it before.
They were saying that they are going to do shisha till they pass out, and I asked them if it's halal but they said there is nothing wrong with it and it is harmless.

Thank you.

In the ask imam website it is mentioned:
1. It is makrooh to smoke hukka as it is detrimental to one’s health. http://www.askimam.org/fatwa/fatwa.p...68885b9f1f0d36

It's not harmless. The fact that there is a water filter doesn't negate the fact that your pushing smoke into your lungs.
Personally, if you've never tried it, I would stay away from it. I won't make any presumptions, but have your 'friends' who state it is harmless, looked at the medical news reports on it? And have these 'friends' (unlike you) checked for any islamic guidance before pronouncing it halal?

Salam Aleykum,

Shisha is 100 times worse than smoking cigarettes, it kills people in my country.

Go to Australia and see the Hijabis there, you'll never be surprised again.

Please use the search engine, it has been answered.

And yes, women are also known to do this, especially in one of the cities in India.

I tihnk this has kicked on big time in UK especially in London/midlands/manchester. There must be about 20 sheesha bars in Birmingham alone, and thats just the central part. Personally I sometimes smoke it, but I cant imagine it being good for your health.

apparently its equivalent to smoking 30ciggerettes, its become a hype in the UK and most of these shisha places are packed out with hijabis unfortunately its as though they think this is part of islamic culture or something, sorry but i personally find it extremely tacky!

the report about shisha being as harmfull as 100 cigs was flawed and the WHO who did the experiment have taken it back,
shisha is still a new thing and not much investigations have gone into it, there was a case in pakistan few years back when an army generals daughter died from smoking shisha, and the general got shisha banned in the whole city, but she had mixed drugs init and the lab reports showed shisha was not harmfull.

from what i have seen shisha smoke is extremly light, smoke it with a cigrette and see the difference, cig smoke is nasty and doesnt go, whereas shisha smoke is extremly light and dissappears in seconds once it leaves the mouth. shisha smoke contains about 70% of water vapour. so i believe that shisha is not that harmful as people suggest.

Less harmful or more harmful, there is a good reason to avoid it and the way people are taking, even the women (and I am still surprised) is as if it is a obligation to take it or like having some health drink. I dont know why the muslims are having it even if it contains 70% vapor and what about the rest 30%? People are just crazy. We are asked to avoid even doubtful things and here is something more or less harmful.
