Default Do not forget to give Zakat ul Fitr before Eid Prayer

Just a reminder to give Zakat ul Fitr before Eid Prayer.

Amount= approx. 3kg of grain(wheat or rice) per Family member. (or equivalent amount of money according to some scholars)

Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 25, Number 579:

Narrated Ibn Umar:
Allah's Apostle enjoined the payment of one Sa' of dates or one Sa' of barley as Zakat-ul-Fitr on every Muslim slave or free, male or female, young or old, and he ordered that it be paid before the people went out to offer the 'Id prayer. (One Sa' = 3 Kilograms approx.)

Fate of the one who doesn't give Zakat:

Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 24, Number 486:

Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever is made wealthy by Allah and does not pay the Zakat of his wealth, then on the Day of Resurrection his wealth will be made like a bald-headed poisonous male snake with two black spots over the eyes. The snake will encircle his neck and bite his cheeks and say, 'I am your wealth, I am your treasure.' " Then the Prophet recited the holy verses:-- 'Let not those who withhold . . .' (to the end of the verse). (3.180).

Jazakallah kher for the reminder =),
Alhumdullilah i paid Zakat-ul-fitr for the first time from my own endeavours this month. I have to say it was a great feeling. Firstly because I knew I had to do so (instead of my parents giving it on my behalf). Secondly, it was my first real opportunity to practice this side of my deen since i became practicing. Unfortunately I dont have the savings to qualify to pay zakat this year. Inshallah next year, I will give zakat also.

I have a question regarding this if you know the answer? if every muslim has to give zakat-ul-fitr. Who receives the benefit?

edited to make feelings clearer.

Salam alikum,
indeed it is good feeling to pay zakat. I pay it to local islamic foundation and I know they are supporting imigrant families, beside it they support for other activities and build islamic centre.
Alhamdulillah

Poor people are exempted from giving Zakat.

Conditions of the Giving Zakatul Fitr:(from Reliance of a Traveler)
(a) that one has the necessary amount ;
(b) and that on the night before the `Eid and on the ~Eid itself,
this is in excess of what one needs to feed oneself and those whom one is obliged to support ,
what one needs to clothe them, and in excess of one's debts and housing expenses.
If one's excess amounts to only part of the required zakat, one must pay as much of it as one has.

If one has intention to pay before Eid Salah and an Authority(Masjid) takes responsibility to do that according to sunnah, then i think he is free from any question. Plz correct me if i m wrong.
This is just my Opinion.
