As salaam alaikum wa rahmatullah,
Take a look at the following and tell me if I am missing something, because they all seem to have beards trimmed less than a fist with the exception of a few. Even the Imams of Haramain seem to have beards trimmed less than a fist. The link is as follows: http://www.assabile.com/Saudi-Arabia/ Comments would be appreciated. |

As salaam alaikum wa rahmatullah, Most of them are legit, and are adorning their natural beard. Only for few can be said that they might be trimming it. A natural beard often does not grow too long and it seems as if the person is trimming it. Also sometimes the beard hair are curly and they seem to be shorter than a fist , but if you hold them when fully straight they come to the length of a full fist. |

Is it compulsory to grow beard? Plus it is a manifestation of one's talluq and attachment with the ways of the Prophet S.W.But with the weak iman of muslim nowdays and the influence of environment it is obvious that there will be resistance from men in terms of keeping a beard, just how some sisters don't want to wear hijab. The root cause is love of duniya, acceptance in society and weakness in faith. |

Is is not more hygenic to be clean shaven and important being that cleanliness is so important when it comes to prayers?? It's just a propaganda that TV and media have been putting the minds of the masses to promote Shaving of beards and other parts. A well groomed beard actually makes a person look much wise and better looking than him being a potato-face. A beard is just as hygenic as headhair. |

Please do not snipe at our deen lest you overstay your welcome. The beard is equated with being unhygienic in the West. Muslims wash the beard countless times a day, unlike Western slobs who let their beard grow due to laziness. |

It is a matter of opinion as to whether a well groomed beard or clean shaven(non potato like face) looks better. |

[QUOTE=abdulwahhab;655117]Do not act offended when your post itself is clearly offensive. To say that a sunnah is something unhygienic is something that does put into question why you're still allowed to post here.[/QUOTE
If you take offence to my original post that says to me that you have an issue. The fact is that any area of the body that has more sweat has more hair growth, armpits, a prime example. So what you are saying is, that unless I am in full agreement with you, i should be removed from the forum? This is not a dictatorship or would you prefer it that way? How boring would it be if we all had the same minds. |

And why do you always selectively respond to posts? Again, why don't you shave your head if you think that hair anywhere on the body is unhygienic? |

No, all Muslims have an issue with you suggesting that the beard is unhygienic. You suggested that since we need to be clean for our prayers, it would be better if we shaved our beards to be more "hygienic". IMO, you have seriously overstayed your welcome here with such a comment. You act as an authority on something you have no knowledge of and play the innocent card. This forum has a certain decor and rules. You are insulting a sunnah by calling it unhygienic and therefore, you have certainly overstayed your welcome and should be removed from the forum unless you retract your statements that serve no purpose but to create discord. There are over 2 billion muslims in the world, let say for argument sake 1 billion men, are you saying that they all have a fist lenght beard? Are you saying that those who dont do not know the sunnah? Are you not offending them? Less of playing the innocent card remark too please, I am not muslim, I have beliefs, yours are not better than mine and mine are not better than yours. And as far as taking back anything I said, I will not do that. Someone on this forum refered to me as a simpleton, they are still here! |

As a woman I would never shave my head. I dont have time to live my life and respond to all posts. No one is asking you to respond to all posts but reply to those that are addressed to you. You do seem to have the time to jump into topics you have no knowledge of. And if you read my post properly, you would see my acknowledgement to all replies on posts and that fact that I said I would be reading over certain replies a few times to try and understand what they mean and what meaning I take from them. The issue of shaving off the head was brought up three times in this thread and you just responded to it. It showed a logical fallacy in your claim that beards are unhygienic. Your response is also insufficient. You claimed that having hair is unhygienic. You have hair on your head. Ergo, you are unhygienic, if your flawed logic is to be followed. If you say that just the "beard" is unhygienic, then you are insulting the sunnah and I will call the mods to ban you. If you hold such an opinion, you do not have any right to troll this thread with such an opinion. Open a separate thread about your issue with Islam and us dirty, bearded, unhygienic Muslims but do not derail this thread which is addressed TO Muslims. There are over 2 billion muslims in the world, let say for argument sake 1 billion men, are you saying that they all have a fist lenght beard? Who the heck said that? Are you saying that those who dont do not know the sunnah? Are you not offending them? If I tell a non-haafidh that he does not know such and such surah by heart, does he have a right to be offended? If I tell you that you do not know the intricacies of string theory (unless you do), am I being offensive or merely stating fact? Many Muslims DO know that the beard is sunnah but they choose not to follow it. There is a difference between choosing to follow a sunnah and outright denying or denigrating it. So, yes, I can say with confidence that even those Muslims that shave know that the beard is a sunnah. Similarly, there are many Muslims who choose not to pray, even though they know the importance it has in Islam. A person who insults the beard or prayer are not considered Muslim because they have declared their kufr by insulting the Prophet ![]() Less of playing the innocent card remark too please, I am not muslim, I have beliefs, yours are not better than mine and mine are not better than yours. And as far as taking back anything I said, I will not do that. Someone on this forum refered to me as a simpleton, they are still here! Insulting a sunnah is a good enough reason for a ban. Familiarize yourself with the rules of the forum before you go on your crusade to rectify Muslims and their barbaric ways. |

![]() al-Salaamu Man Ittaba'a al-Huda Beard is grown in following the Sunnah of all the Ambiyaa ('Alayhi al-Salaam), an most importantly it is a command of our Messenger ![]() One can be both hygienic and unhygienic if they have a beard, no doubt. But part of our faith is to be hygienic. It is reported in Sahih Muslim that Rasulullah ![]() الطهور شطر الايمان Cleanliness is a part of Imaan (Faith). Muslims who practice their Religion whilst having a Beard pray five times a days which they do Wudhu (Ablution), and part of Wudhu is to wash the face and part of our face is our Beard, and hence the beard is thoroughly washed. And this is five times a day, despite Sunnah / Wajib Ghusl (Bathing). So yes, a person can be totally hygienic whilst having a beard. ![]() |

Does this mean some of us who don;t keep beard will go to jahanam? ![]() Allah ![]() In a hypothetical situation, let's say there are two brothers. Both perform the daily prayers as well as many nafl ibaadaat. One has a beard because he wants to follow the sunnah of his Prophet ![]() ![]() Your question is not really appropriate. If I asked you, "Does this mean some of us who eat pork will go to jahanam?" or "Does this mean some of us who drink alcohol will go to jahanam?" or "Does this mean some of us who don't pray salah will go to jahanam?" - would any of these be appropriate questions? All are asking if a person commits a haraam act, will that person be destined be jahannam? Only Allah ![]() |

To be honest I care less about these minute issues. We have bigger matters at hand that need our energy and time ... again each to his own. |

The problem is those who keep the beard (not all) often try to impose the superiority over those who dont ![]() It takes more energy to cut the beard than to let it grow so, as you say, we have more important issues to deal with, maybe we could spend less time and energy in trying to look like some non-Muslim and more time working towards common goals. |
