Default iphone apps for muslims
a while ago someone asked what good apps there was for the iphone.

here is my list, iv pretty much exhausted all the apps for these are my favourites.

islamic prayer beeds - isubha

this is a great tasbeeh app, its touch screen, counts totals, can create custom tasbeehs and does a total for each, how long it took, what time it ended etc. Great app for people who do dhikr

iquran lite - guided ways
its a free quran, i think this is more than adequate as there isnt a huge difference between the full and lite version. in full u get more audio options and landscape. it has translation and reciter audio in lite

ipray lite - guided ways
good app, i keep it even though my city isnt listed, there is a huge city db so when travelling you can pick up the big citys so can be of use

ipray full
same as above, but has auto detect so works out timing according to that.

qudsi -
free hadith app, no commentary but its free

quran reader - batoul apps
its a decent 15 line quran, where you get scanned images. its 1.19p
its good to read, downside is that its not free and you need to be able to read the non african print easily as its on the small screen

islamic calendar
good app, its free, does what it says perfectly, its good when reading articles and dates are in islamic format

zabihah lite
tells rastaurants in your locality or place of visit, its decent but based on testimonies. so you might find retaurants recommended which serve booze. not to all peoples liking but still ok

iazkar
dhikr and dua book
its good, problem is that there is no accents on any words, so unless ur arab or know arabic fully i wouldnt recommend it

salah time
its pretty decent, bit slow and has gone white screen on my once or twice. its 50p
very bog standard. personally if i was to spend money i would buy full ipray and save 50p

islamiclite
good looking app, you need push notifications so if ur jailbroken then forget this one. i dont think it works for me or is incredibly inaccurate. might be a shia app

mathnavi - al khawarizmi
cost 2.39p, contemplating getting my money back from apple. seems to have all the volumes but there is grammatical mistakes and the app design is poor.

al Mus'haf
GREAT QURAN APP!!! its free so get it. Its amazing in that you can turn pages etc.
BEST FREE QURAN APP ON IPHONE, just released. downside is that its 15 line, but still great

hadith - al bukhari - t-bone
its 50p for full bukhari sharif, bargain in my eyes, bought it today
not sure how it plays but its looks decent from screen shot, for 59p you cant get cheaper for full volumes

hadith - riyadus saliheen - t-bone
same as above, 59p bargain, looks great, in order with categories, search etc. great app

Ones to AVOID!!

i want halal

its ****, and wrong info

mathnavi as iv written about above

prob salah time too

islamic lite

iazkar - if you can read without accents then fair enough, if not then avoid

zabihah - read above

NOTE: poor grammer, punctuation is intentional, i dont have the time so i quickly blitzed this list

This may be old news. But as i was browsing apps on my iPhone for Christianity and came across a couple apps for Muslims.

iIslam
ikaba

and some more just type in Islam or Muslim and loads of apps come up some also tell you how, when and where to pray to(i think its called iQibla?) as well as history and full copys of Qur'an's.

Just thought you may be interested.

God be with you

Yeah there are a lot actually...

the Iquran pro is one of my favorites though..
They even came out with a itajweed or something, where it gives you the rules of tajweed, and the ayats, and the sheikh reciting in front of you(obviously im not saying this is better then the real thing), but its amazing some of the things they did...

I recently downloaded Islamic lib (Islam library), If you download this app you basically have access to 100s of Islamic books, so I thought it was pretty good...

I went through some of the books they sounded pretty good, I cant remember any of the names, then I checked the author and it was non other than bloomin Ayatollah Khomeini !!!

so I downloaded a couple of other books and all of them had shia authors... all of them... and they even had bukhari in it... only Allah knows if the shia have uploaded their own version with altered hadith..

Anyway I think its a shame because the idea of having an Islamic library on your iphone is great but its a shame its been manipulated by the shia

There's a new islam iphone app called halal scanner. Basically it takes a photo of ingredients on food items and tells you which of the food additives are halal. Try them out at www.halalscanner.com

Add this islamic iphone app to your list. It looks quite flash. Its called Halal Scanner. Bascially takes a photo of a food item and tells you which of the food additives are halal or not. Sounds very cool! Theyre at www.halalscanner.com

iQuran pro excellent app, has translation, recitation with I think about 10 different reciters and a search function. its not free they do have a light version wich is free but only one reciter.

ihadith apps are very good also.

avoid islamiclib, or islamic library shia app with shia books

I have the following on my ipod touch:

alQuran - a good free Qur'an app with a ton of translations. Only downside is that the reference list clearly shows it's shia bias, but if you avoid that, all good.

iQuran Pro - good pay app. While the alQuran has more translations and reciters, this one syncs the recitation with the text and will scroll along by itself as it's recited.

iPray Pro - only downside is that it doesn't sound the adhan if you're not hooked up to wifi (which I'm not most of the time)

QSurahs - haven't used it much yet, but it's suppose to help you memorize some short surahs

iSubha - virtual dhikr beads, don't use it much since I like my wood beads

Divine Names - love this one, plays the 99 names and has features to help you memorize

QDuas - memorize quranic duas

QWords - memorize Quranic words

iDua - good dua program, only downside is you have to download the audio for each individual dua.

Thanks for that. A Malaysian research team where looking at a similar concept, but scanning the barcode instead of the ingredients. That way its much quicker.

If your iphone is jailbroken you can use installus, just search islam or a key word. if not use appstore...but most apps will charge and you have to have a itunes account to download.

Can we have suggestions for Islamic apps that are known to be RELIABLE.

As many are made by shias or qadhianis unfortunately...
