Tell him not to be confused. Take it easy. Follow his local Masjid.
yep...for a new revert that is the most sensible/safe thing to do

Saudi has to do something. Saudi ulama have already said that other countries should follow local sighting and not to follow Saudi - yet people choose what they want to listen to. Once the moon is announced, everyone says سمعنا واطعنا but tell them about the fatawa from the Saudi ulama, everyone says سمعنا وعصينا.

Which moon do you follow for Hajj?

assalamoualaikoum

when I 'm in my country I follow the local sighting for the month of zul hijjah. When I went for Hajd I'd no other option than following Saudi because I was located there even if their sightings may be faulty.

On a different note can you please explain they sighted the moon yesterday when it was around 12hours old and the moon set was 4 mins after sunset? Remember I don't have any problem with global sighting but we should be certain that the sighting is correct.

If the moon is sighted anywhere in the world, it is considered acceptable for the rest of the world to welcome a new month based on this sighting. That is according to many Hanafi scholars. There are also some scholars that hold the opinion that the moon has to be sighted locally.

The other reason people do not follow Saudi is that they (including myself) believe that Saudis are not trustworthy in their sighting claims. Or they have some eyes that are able to have selective kashf and see tomorrow's moon today!

would you kindly elaborate this point please

Sorry I don't have any common sense, I only have special sense.

Can you tell me by using your common sense, how does a 2 hour difference create a difference of a WHOLE DAY for Ramadhan and Eid?
Bro,you are killing him with a tough question even though the answer should be simple

I also wanna know about this two hr thing

Ask him.
Maulana Taliban, This 2 eid thing should be good news for you, since it gives opportunity to give your wives there right . 2 Wives, 2 Eids no problem.

Now if you can extend the uncertainty for another couple of days...

The Saudis happen to "see" the moon when it is impossible to be seen more often than not. Surely there are some karamaat involved, right?

by this reasoning the moon will never be visible because the country before it would have already seen it

before having this discussion i recommend people get a basic understanding of how the sun moves accross the world and how the moon becomes visible, nothing difficult just a basic understanding because i can see from many posts here taht people dont really get it too well no offence

p.s. the issue of moon sighting is a difference of oppinion and shouldnt be the source of so much fitnah as the ulema of the past disagreed on fiqhi issues related to moonsighting
