![]() I have been told time and again by someone that a Hafiz will take 10 people to Jannah even if they were destined to hell (something to this effect). The other day we were reading Fazail e Amaal and I saw the hadith. Some actually believe that they have nothing to worry about because someone in thier family, brother/father etc is a hafiz. Only Allah knows what is in people's heart but I have seen a few Hafiz who lie, cheat and do all sorts of things to wrong people, will he still take 10 such people to Jannah? This may come across as a naive assumption by some of us but people actually sincerely rely on it thinking they can do wrong, because they are immune. How do we deal with this? Because saying otherwise would mean I am disapproving of the hadith. ![]() |

This is the hadeeth. It is very weak and mentioned as weak by Al Albani. The sanad (chain) of the hadeeth contains Abu Amr Hafs Ibn Sulaiman Al Qaari' who is "Matrook Al hadeeth" (hadeeths from him are not accepted). The hadeeth cannot be attirbuted to the messenger of Allah peace be upon him. Even if it were authentic, it doesnt mean immunity but it would mean just what it says generally. No one in Islam is immune in particular or can claim immunity. Also please note that the commitee of senior scholars and Islamic research in Saudi, and the mufti, have warned that "Fazail Al A'maal" contains many, many weak and fabricated hadeeths, many even deal with aqeedah, and that therefore its not allowed to spread them and preach using them because this would spread superstitions and untrue things, especially regarding Aqeedah. Alhamdulillah theres many other books that can substitute. |

![]() I didn't know this, where can I find more information on this since this book is always held in very high esteem and regard. And what substitutions would you recommend if there are so many weak hadeeths? Jazaakallah Another book full of hadith is Riyadh us saliheen, of Imam nawawi. |

And what substitutions would you recommend if there are so many weak hadeeths? Jazaakallah http://www.facebook.com/notes/fazail...39774262765344 However, an ideal substitution would be Riyaadh Assaliheen of Imam Al Nawawi. Also theres some writings of Ibn Al Qayyim that are very nice and heart softening, but Riyaadh Al-Saliheen is probably the closest to it and would be a good alternative, as the issue isnt just a weak hadeeth here or there (Even riyadh Al-Saliheen has a few, usually pointed out in commentaries), but theres a large number, and many of them are related to important issues regarding Aqeedah. This is not good especially for the common man who would always like to comfortably take it as a reference. So until it is revised, insha'Allah Riyaadh Al Saliheen is just as good, or even better. |
