Assalamuwalaikum, I am working at an IT organisation. Some people try pulling others legs and moving upward. With me also happened the same. Recently a guy joined our company. He tried to treat like he wants to pull me. And now he is making good progress. I am trying to struggle more to be on the top. I had decided earlier that I will devote my time to seeking knowledge of Islam but I am unable to do so as I get so exhausted with work and whenever i get time I feel like taking rest. If I do not work more I fear he will go ahead of me and this thought hurts my ego. Please advise me what i should do to solve this problem. If someone has faced a situation like this and applied a solution that worked please advise me.

This is natural and you will face it in every job everywhere.
If its your main source of income, do not leave your job for sure. Having learned experienced Muslims in various industries is also needed by Muslims. And if your intention is right you may be rewarded for it by Allah subhanahu wa ta'alaa. If you have different sources of income and wish to become a scholar and learn full time, then this becomes a different subject and shouldnt be related to things you face at work. This however doesnt seem to be the case. So focus on your work and know that this is natural and work hard. |

![]() If this work is preventing you from performing your obligations to deen, you should leave this job immediately and ![]() If it is not, then work hard and, if you can, try to look for another job on the side. If you find the other job pleasing, leave your current employer for the other one. May Allah ![]() |

Bismillah
Instead of having the intention of beating anyone with regards to dunya, may be one can correct the intention of working sincerely for Allah SWT's sake without any khayanat, that is to work sincerely for the hours paid fearing Allah SWT. This will give sukun while when we think of overcoming others related to dunya, this will put extra pressure on our mind. We should know we will get what is destined for us even if the whole world turns against us and no one can stop what is destined for us. We should work hard to accept the qadr of Allah SWT. When our thoughts are concerned with akhirah, then dunya too will come automatically without we seeking for it and every good comes from Allah SWT. Whenever we get free time, one can turn to Allah SWT and pray to Allah SWT to grant the knowledge and wisdom and to bless the time. When Allah SWT decides to give one, no one can stop it. Alalhu alam. Here is a beautiful duaa: Allahumma a'inni bil ilmi wa zayyinni bil hilmi wa akrimni bit taqwa wa jammilni bil aafiyah Oh Allah! assist me with knowledge, embellish me with forbearance, honor me with piety and beautify me with peace. |
