Salaam my dearest brothers and sisters.
I am Inshallah sitting in Itikaaf this year so only a few days left to go. This is the first time I will be doing Itikaaf so not sure what to expect. Can anyone help me put a time table together as in what to do at what times and when to sleep etc ? and other hints or tips you can share please feel free. JazakAllah in advance. |

W/salaam brother
Firstly if you are not a “regular Muslim” and don’t know the basic masaail, tahaarah, salaah, fasting etc then it would be best to sit for itikaaf in a musjid where a sheikh or aalim has structured programs chalked out for the day. You will benefit tremendously. Your time will be well spent. If you are a practicing Muslim and know the basics of deen how to read Qur’an etc then you can sit alone and set your own targets for the 10 days. I will just give some general advice insha Allah: 1. Before sitting read the rules pertaining to itikaaf 2. Set achievable targets. Fix the amount of Qur’an, Durood zikr ect you want to read 3. Keep a few good books to read. Books that inspire and motivate you. Books on the seerah of Nabi (saw) of Ambiyaa (as) Sahabah (ra) etc 4. Make sure you are up well before salaah times, so that you are ready for salaah before the people come for salaah 5. Make sure you never miss takbeer e ula and salaah in the first saff 6. Make taubah from sins 7. Seek protection from jahunnum and entry into jannah I will be sitting this year for the first time as well. My target for the 10 days insha Allah is: 1. One khatam of Qur’an daily 2. 10,000 Durood Sharief 3. 3000 Kalima Tayyiba 4. 3000 Istighfar I will not sleep at night. I will sleep after ishraaq till about an hour before zohr (approx 5 hours) May Allah accept our itikaaf and make it a turning point in our lives. Do remember me in your duas during itikaaf |

![]() You should really read up on the rules of i'tikaaf, otherwise it might happen that your i'tikaaf is broken and you do not even know it. http://daruliftaa.net/fiqhresearch/V.../I-tikaaf.html ![]() |

*brother, try to sleep down on floor not on bed set. you can arrange little comfortable mattress over carpet if you never slept before on just carpet or any rug directly.
*save an hour 'at least' for to think about your past, ask forgiveness for your sins which you would know, but I am talking here to Think about your Past Good deeds, Judge them, You know some sins are bright as day light before us they need just forgiveness which you would Insha Allah, but most of us don't know about our own own deeds even, we take them for good but they aint, we think we are Good but we aint, yes try to discover yourself, try to discover that sins of yours and ask Allah to help you that you be able to see your 'Real Face' so that you repent in real sense and ask Allah for forgiveness. Don't consider that Time as wastage of hours as because you can make Him Pleased in case at least when you get to know 'where' and 'when' you had turned your face at His order or preferred your Nafs, and the more bad thing is that you consider that a good of, till now. ...but Satan made, (to the wicked), their own acts seem alluring.. 16-63 al Quran. And whosoever turns away from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (i.e. this Qur'aan and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaytan to be a Qareen (an intimate companion) to him. And verily, they (Shayateen) hinder them from the Path (of Allah), but they think that they are guided aright!' [Qur'an (43): 36-37] I found her and her people worshiping the sun instead of Allah, and Shaytan has made their deeds fair-seeming to them, and has barred them from (Allah's) Way, so they have no guidance,' [Soorah an-Naml (27): 24] *your Intention should remain the same throughout the time period, which would be to pleased Allah I believe. Allah knows better about. |

But the most important aspect is to leave sin. As Moulana Yunus Patel Saheb (ra) used to say if you have a container that has filth (napaaki) in it. Even if you put zam zam into the container, it will not only remain impure it will also make the zam zam impure. Doing lots of ibadah is meritorious but if we continue sinning then we will not get the desired benefits of our ibadah. May Allah grant us the ability to refrain from sin, and also create within us a hatred for sin. |

Aameen. what I believe brother, leaving sins is itself an Ibadah. Its simple, Allah ![]() and we however try all, to know about our sins, our mistakes but we hardly collect time to go for Quran, nawafil as per due.so that shouldn't be ignored, any of em, they all be in proportions. |
