Default How Can I (WE) Get In The Habit Of Reciting More Quran? www.shaykh.org

The Following Are Sayings Of The Respected Shaykh From The Website www.shaykh.org

Quran And Its Importance And Why We Find It Difficult And What Do To Get In To The Habit In Reading More?:

“A person once told me that he was so busy that he did not have any time for daily recitation of the Qur’an. I put the point to him that he did not possess a true appreciation of the Qur’an or a true sense of its importance. We all have countless things to do every day, yet if we can do them but not have time for the Qur’an, it is a sign that we do not give the Qur’an its due importance.

I advised the person to develop a sense of the Qur’an’s greatness in his heart by studying the ahadith pertaining to the status and virtues of the Qur’an. I then advised him to fix a definite time of day, bearing in mind his other commitments, solely for tilawah. He chose to do his tilawah after ‘Isha salah. I told him not to leave the masjid after ‘Isha without having completed his tilawah. Some time afterwards, I learned that he had become punctual in his tilawah.

So we all need to do these two things: 1) realise the greatness of the Qur’an; 2) fix a time for daily tilawah and stick to it.

Beware of the tricks of the nafs in this regard; take the example of someone who, after reaching the masjid, has ten minutes in which he can engage in tilawah. He thinks to himself that ten minutes is insufficient to complete one juz, and his nafs persuades him to do his tilawah afterwards when he has enough time.

This is a trap, for the ‘afterwards’ promised by the nafs will never come! If he had made use of those ten minutes and recited as much as possible, he would have been well on his way to completing his daily tilawah. By following the devious nafs he deprived himself completely of any tilawah.

Treat your nafs as you would your child: without fixing a time every day for your child to attend maktab to study, he/she will not be able to learn. Similarly, without forcing your nafs to do certain things at certain times, you will not get it to do what you want.”

“Amongst the rights of the Qur’aan is to read the Qur’aan on a regular basis. Many virtues have been mentioned with regards reading the Qur’aan.

In one hadeeth it is mentioned that for every letter read the reader will receive ten rewards.

But let us just imagine for a moment that there was no significant virtue in reading the Qur’aan even then we should have still have felt a burning desire to read.

This is because the words of the Qur’aan are the words of our beloved Creator.

What does a person do when he receives a letter from his beloved? He reads it over and over again.

And the first thing on his mind in the morning and last thing he will think of at night will be this letter.”

“The reward and significance of tilawah of the Qur’an during Ramadhan is indeed great. Realising this, someone who is currently reading three juz per day may entertain the noble intention of reading six juz a day during next Ramadhan next year! It would be no sin if he were to start reading six juz instead of three this very Ramadhan!

It is also noticed that before the advent of Ramadhan, many people realise that indeed they should engage in tilawah during the blessed month. However, with this noble thought in mind, they fail to do any tilawah during the remaining days of Sha’ban and wait for the first of Ramadhan. Just imagine how much reward they deprive themselves of!”

“People complain about not being able to carry out their tilaawat punctually due to lack of time. The bottom line is that we have not made a firm resolution to make tilaawat. If we make a firm resolution then we would very easily find time.

Look! We come to perform five times Salaah. If we make a habit of reciting only a quarter juz when we attend the Masjid at the time of every Salaah, (a few pages before Salaah and a few after) we can very easily recite one and a quarter juz every day without even perceiving that we have taken out a significant amount of time for it.”

The Following Are Sayings Of The Respected Shaykh From The Website www.shaykh.org

“Throughout the year a Hafiz (one who has memorised the Qur’aan) should endeavour to recite three Juz (chapters) daily.

A recommend method is the recite the Juz once whilst looking in the Qur’aan and twice in Salaah throughout the day.

Those who are not Huffaz, should aim to recite at least one chapter daily.”

Blessing Of Recitation And Virtues Of The Word of Allah | WWW.ASKIMAM.ORG

Hadrat Abu Sa'id (Radhi Allaho anho) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) said: "Almighty Allah says, "If anybody finds no time for My remembrance and for begging favors of Me because of his remaining busy with the Holy Qur'an, I shall give him more than what I give to all those who beg favors of Me." The superiority of the Word of Allah over all other words is like the superiority of Allah over the entire creation."

In another words, compared to those who are begging favors of Allah, He will surely confer some better reward on a person who remains so occupied with committing the Qur'an to memory or learning and understanding it that he hardly gets time for 'du'a'(prayer). It is commonly known that when a man distributes sweets, or something else amongst others, a share is set aside for the person who cannot attend the function because of the task of distribution given to him by the distributor himself. In another 'hadith' in the same context, it is mentioned that Allah would give such a person a better reward than what He would give to His ever-grateful servants.
