I went to the Machester city football club to see a game, and in the stadium it is written "And on the sixth day God created Manchester city" (Nauzubillah) they`ve clearly taken out the verse from the bible and added to it. was just wondering whether this can be regarding as mocking the deen, although the verse seems to be from the bible, and it dosent really sound much like mocking either. And that I should avoid going to the stadium?

I would say its more like disrespect of the Bible for the most part, and perhaps of lack of humility with God (by taking attributing things to him just to say your city is a great one) than it is mocking. Perhaps what made you feel this more is because of the mentioning of "six days" which is also mentioned in the Qur'aan.
I dont see why you should avoid going though, unless if its like a form of protest, or not wanting to get "desensitized" seeing such statements are normal. But things like that are everywhere there so... I dont know... maybe you could see such things as a reminder of the greatness of Islam and the great deal of respect for religion/God/scripture we have? Again, I dont know... just thinking out loud. That said, I wouldnt stop going, but thats just me. |

Haha.. City stadium is much nearer than Liverpool`s otherwise I wont have an issue. And I don`t support them, just went to see a game and came across that, and it started bothering me and you`re never quite sure whether you`re reading too much between the lines due to waswasas or it is indeed intrinsically wrong. But Straightpath is right that the fact the term "six days" is used in the Quran too, so that was on the back of my mind. Then again Im sure they did not intend to mock that. I guess I should just watch them on tv.
