In the clip he seems to be a neutral commentator on the issue of Islam and contemporary issues in the beginning. In the end he seems to be explaining Muslim psychology to the modernists. I can not say with certainty that to which side he belongs in this Islam vs modernism battle. The presence of Tariq Ramadan there says it all.

No brother nuthing to worry about, all he is trying to say is that muslims have to stop overreacting to homosexuality and that this problem is very much there in the society and we just have to deal with it in a civil and human manner. But forsure he is not saying that homosexuality is allowed in islam.

Assalaam'aaleykum!

I have been watching all these short videos from 'Rethinking Islam reform 2010', especially lectures by Shaykh Hamza Yusuf on various contemporary issues. In the end, I couldn't help but praise Shaykh Hamza Yusuf for possessing the vast knowledge of the both the Islamic science and western science. I have found Shaykh to be too deep on almost all the issues. MAsha'Allah!

this thread was started only for clarification. i'd appreciate if brothers and sisters can refrain from slandering the Sheikh in any way shape or form. I don't want this fitna to be on my head especially in Ramadan, so humble request to the mods to immediately shut this thread down if certain individuals decide to get trigger happy.
