I heard Hamza Yusuf say that the the prophet saws had a teacher, it was one of these i think:

Does anyone know who he's refering to?

At first I thought it was Allah SWT, however I don't know that to be one of his attributes.

Ya Sahib al Jamal e wa Ya Syed al Bashar…
Mi(n) wajhikal Munir o laqad nuwwiral qamar..
La yumkin us sana o kamaa kaana haquhu…
Bad Az KHUDA Buzurg Tuhi qissa mukhtasar..

The last two lines can be translated as :

It is impossible to give due praise to your glory,
In short, after Allah, you are the most exalted!

The Prophet's teacher was Jibreel AS who taught him the Quraan and also conveyed other revelations.
Jibreel in turn was given his knowledge by Allah.
