Default Need explanation for a hadith.
Salam,

Sahih Muslim Chapter 6 #1980:

Abu Hurairah (ra) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: "Jannah and the Fire (Hell) argued, and the Fire (Hell) said, 'I have been given the privilege of receiving the arrogants and the tyrants.' Jannah said. 'What is the matter with me? Why only the weak and the humble enter me?' On that, Allah said to Jannah, 'You are My Mercy which I bestow on whoever I wish to My slaves.' Then Allah said to the (Hell) Fire, 'You are My punishment by which I punish whoever I wish of My slaves. And each of you will have its fill.' As for Fire (Hell), it will not be filled untill Allah places His Foot on it whereupon it will say, 'Enough, enough.' At that point it will be filled, and its sides will contract; and Allah will not wrong any of his creatures. As regards Jannah, Allah will create a new creation to fill it with"

Doesn't this contradict to the fact that Allah does not have a physical appearance like that of his creatures? Or is it something we cannot understand and the word "Foot" is used instead because our brain is incapable of understand what Allah truly is.

Jazakallah khair.

You answered yourself when you said its something we cannot comprehend. It is one of those vague things which we take but dont ask questions on.
For example, it says in the Quraan that there are clear aayat and unclear aayat, those who base their beliefs on the unclear aayat are the misguided.
Bear in mind I am doing this from memory so I cant provide the reference, if you need it though I can happily provide it, also the above is a rough translation again from memory.

The reason I said that aayat is because there are many cases in the Quraan similar to what you've said. For example, Allah talks about his footstool in the Quraan (another reference to "feet"),
as well as a throne (which implies sitting). Allah also talks about his hands, his eyes, and even his face. The proper stance is to take those aayat as they are but go no further.
Exactly what Allah means by these statements only He knows. We say yes Allah does have a face, he does have a hand, but is his face like ours with hair on top
and two ears etc etc is something we do not know and we should avoid thinking. Rather we say yes he does have a face but we know nothing more about it, what its like etc.

Just like the many ahadeeth which say that the believers will all get to look at the Face of Allah in Jannah at least once, with the more pious believers being able to look
upon it more than once, with the most pious believers being able to look at it whenever they wish and as many times as they wish.

How that will be again we dont know. I hope I shed some light on the issue.

Assalaamu 'Alaikum
