Asalamo alekum, I was speaking to a family member someone not close , they were giving lots of bad dua to other family who they have grudge with. I kept telling her to stop saying I'll words to them but she did not stop. After I put the phone down I was and still am disturbed mentally at the things said. Surely these I'll words can't do harm? Can they? Please someone tell me what Islam, Quran and Hadith says regarding this. JazakAllah

Samura ibn Jundub reported that the Messenger of Allah said, "Do not curse one another with Allah's curse or His anger or the Fire." [Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi] Salim ibn 'Abdullah said, "I never heard 'Abdullah ever curse anything." Salim mentioned that 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr said, "It is not fitting for a believer to be a curser."
