As Salam 'alaykum
The month of Ramadhan is the month of spiritual struggle with the nafs! What happens when a Muslim is stigmatized as a ‘homosexual’ or a ‘drug addict’? How does he overcome the burden of such stigmatization within the Muslim community? How should we as Muslims deal with people who suffer from sexual, drug and alcohol addictions? Please listen to Shaykh Abdullah's response to this question and let me know what you think |

Honestly, we need to support these brothers as a community. Its tough when there is no one for you and you are trying to tackle these problems on your own. I know brothers that will relapse because they have no support, and so they go to the Non Muslim support groups, which is dangerous. I mean what is it telling our convert Muslim brothers and sisters?

I agree with you...this is one of the reasons that we had this rather controversial class...where we show how the Prophet (saws) and the companions approached such problems and issues. We have to start making our deen relevant by addressing the issues...not simply holding our noses up and pretending that they will go away...and Allah knows best!
