AssalamoAlaikum,
May this message find you in best of health and Imaan. I am about to relocate to Birmingham, UK, and therefore in need of some guidance. Can anyone guide me which area in Birmingham is especially suitable for Muslims to settle down in? I am looking for an apartment, so therefore it is essential for me to know, where to put my focus. I was thinking about Birmingham City Centre, but I don’t know. What would be the best place to start from? Or are there any Muslim letting agents? I look forward to you reply. ![]() Waasalam |

AssalamoAlaikum, ![]() As far as i am aware somewhere near Coventry Road would be better, because alot of people around those sides are practicing. Birmingham City Centre is not a good spot, too much exposed Fitnah. Wallahu A'lam. |

Birmingham is about 20% muslim.
Most of the central areas are majority pakistani or indian. I would not recommend City Centre, but the areas just outside for example Small Heath, Sparkbrook, Alum Rock, Bordesley Green, Moseley. There are many estate agents available for letting, most of them are located on Ladypool Road, Moseley Village and Alum Rock road and are owned by muslims. |

There are two known institues so link up with them. Generally I find asian areas to be quiet backward because of their village mindedness and insular looking young muslim brought up in such setting. I prefer to keep away from asian/arab communities on the ground that they are generally not very civil and brash but linking up with scholars and masjed on a regular basis is a must. |

It is important to live in a Muslim area and to live close to a masjid. I have seen many people become cocunuts who live away from the Muslim community and those that detach themselves from the masjid. The most important thing when living somewhere is to find out how close the masjid is and will a person be able to pray salah with jamaat in the masjid.

Nomadic any Muslim who does not frequent the masjid will find it difficult to preserve one's imaan. The masjids are the soul of our community. Whenever I am ill and travelling and cannot go masjid I can feel the huge loss. Salah with jamat is amongst the most emphasised duties of islam. Living in a educated middle class white area will mean the masjid is miles away and there will be no chance to go to the masjid. I have been in tabligh in such areas and am talking from experience.
