SUHBA is the main thing in sulook,physical suhba comes first,if it is not available due to any reason,then comes contact through phone or post.It was suhba which made Suhaba so great.Islam is a simple,straight forward Din with clear goals,to achieve success in Akhera,that is what is worth looking for,not the philosophies of wahdat ul wujood or shuhood,not any mystic powers or its display.The rules to be successful in Akhera are clearly laid down in Quran & Hadeeth,one has to act upon them,and this is what salik can only do himself, no one else,including his shaikh,can do it for him.The only duty his shaikh has got is to guide him,try to clear concepts for him,try to remove any obstacles in the way, and not to let him get distracted from his actual goal.Up to some extent it can be done by any type of contact but not to the full capacity..Again,if one can have maximum physical suhba,that is better than occassional suhba,which is still better than a phone or a post.Now a days very few of us have the opportunity to have maximum suhba,mostly,it is meeting off and with the shaikh and in between,remain in contact by phone or post.But one has to use the available opportunities rather than leaving it altogether,something is still better than nothing !
