There was even a documentary on it on a national television in Malaysia in 2005.

One owner one day found that 4 pages of the mushaf was 'emptied' (from juzk 13), and she reads the Quran regularly for 40 years. That's one of among other incidents that I know of. The one that I mentioned about one ustadzah who literally saw the words disappearing, she lives about 300+ km to the south from the above owner.

That's not what hadith refers to. It means people will forget it. Haram will be so much wide-spread that it will become very difficult to keep Ayat of Qur'an in the memory.

It won't be too late. The latest time for tawba is the rise of sun from west. If I am not wrong it is mentioned in Sahih Muslim.
