Default 27th night of ramadhan..
Is there is any authentic ahadith in which it is mentioned that 27th night of ramadhan is lailatul qadar ? if there is no such ahadith then why people think that 27th night is only lailatul qadar ??

It has been agreed by many scholars that 27th was the night of lailatur dadr. You can do yours at Christmas if you want

No there is no substantial evidence to say that. Scholars have differed, some don't even believe it has to be in Ramadan. But the majority do, and even more so within the last ten days. And most likely on an uneven night. Some have mentioned the 27th, but some mentioned the 21st etc.

\ There is no specification of Laylatul Qadr. It could be in any one night of the entire year - Ramadaan - last ten days of Ramadaan - odd or even. Rasulullah (SAW) advised to search for Laylatul Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadaan. The people of every area will calculate the even and odd days according to whenever they commenced fasting.http://www.islam.tc/cgi-bin/askimam/...=4357&act=view Ubada bin Samit (Radhiallaahu Anhu) reports, "Once I enquired from the Holy Prophet (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) with regards to Laylatul Qadr. He replied that it is in the odd nights of the last 10 days of Ramadaan. Whoever worships Allah with full conviction and anticipating reward from Him shall have his past sins forgiven". (Musnad Imam Ahmed,Bayhaqi,Mukhtasar Qiyaamul Layl of Muhammad bin Nasr al Marwazi) http://www.islam.tc/cgi-bin/askimam/...=7348&act=view

From Sahih Bukhari:

Volume 3, Book 32, Number 234:

Narrated 'Aisha(ra):
Allah's Apostle said, "Search for the Night of Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan."

Volume 3, Book 32, Number 240:

Narrated 'Ubada bin As-Samit(ra):

The Prophet came out to inform us about the Night of Qadr but two Muslims were quarreling with each other.
So, the Prophet said, "I came out to inform you about the Night of Qadr but such-and-such persons were quarreling, so the news about it had been taken away; yet that might be for your own good, so search for it on the 29th, 27th and 25th (of Ramadan).
