“And your Lord said: "Invoke Me, I will respond to your (invocation) . Verily! Those who scorn (yastakbiroon – Have kibr) My worship, they will surely enter Hell in humiliation! " [Surah Ghaafir: 60]

thank you for remindings, good articles, surely arrogance is disease which is very hidden sometimes, and greed, indeed is such a destructive thing. I wonder if those two are not connected in a way.

Assalamu alaykum

A humble person is a happy, content, grateful person who thanks God for his blessings and has no notions of his own superiority. False notions of superiority or of one’s entitlements in life, on the other hand, lead to frustrations and complexes.

Thinking of it, Arrogance is the first Sin to be committed. iblees disobeyed Allah due to arrogance, and Allah cursed him.

Pride and arrogance is difficult thing to handle. Especially with the education, career and social status we enjoy.

There can't be two mothers. So, let's designate one as the mother and the other as mother-in-law.

So, Arrogance = Mother and Greed = Mother-in-law.

On a serious note, May Allah protect us from both these evils .

Pride and arrogance come in many forms. One manifestation of pride, which is not easily recognisable, takes the outward form of humility: some people feel the need to outwardly display humility while within they actually think highly of themselves for doing so.

People who are genuinely humble don’t have a high opinion of themselves, but truly believe themselves insignificant and humble. An analogy will help us understand what true humbleness is.

Imagine a sleeping person: while fast asleep he does not know that he is asleep; it is only after waking up that he realises that he had been asleep. Likewise, a person who is humble does not feel that he is being humble; his behaviour is naturally full of humbleness without him knowing it.”
