I saw a brother on AH forum mentioning that in the Urdu version of Bahishti Zewar its written: The authorship of it [i.e. Bahishti Zewar] has been nominally attributed to this useless worthless person [i.e. Maulana Ashraf `Ali Thanawi], and in reality its choicest flower - along with benefits and favours - is my beloved and honourable Mawlawi Sayyid Ahmad Ali Saheb Fatehpuri, may Allah protect him. May Allah reward [him] with the best rewards on my behalf, [as well as] on behalf of all Muslim men and women. He also said: Here is one you can check out for yourselves: http://www.mediafire.com/?kiy169ha2kd2um5 pg. 19, lines 5-7 So Bahishti Zewar is actually not written by Ashraf Ali Thanawi, despite the millions of references we'll be able to find that it is indeed his book ? |

I discussed it a long time ago that to the best of my knowledge and understanding Behishti Zewar is not written by Shaykh (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA) but it was given to him by someone and they insisted on dedicating and attributing the book to Shaykh (RA), which he acknowledged in his lifetime. It wasn’t even written by the person mentioned above, it was written by a Munshi Saheb (RA) who to this day remains anonymous because he wanted to lose his name and dedicate and ascribe to Shaykh (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA) What’s the problem with that? |
