Default The groups out there
slaam!
So there are many groups out there such as deobandies, salafis, dawa e islami, barelvis, etc

i just simply follow Hanafi fiqh because...
1.) i dont have great knowledge yet, and dont want to get sucked into anything
2.) i dont have the intention on joining/following a group in the future

i would like to ask what do you follow, why do you follow it and what makes it different

thanks!

wa alaikum assalam

Brother, these groups are divided based on beliefs (aqeedah), and not fiqh.
That is why you will find Hanafi madhhab followers in all these groups that you mentioned (except dawa e islami, I don't know what they are so I can't say)

As for the reason why people are upon one of these groups, it is because they share its beliefs, and they believe it to be the correct beliefs of Islam.

Dawat-e-islami is similar to barelwis

Brother, just read your salah in the masjid, and stay away from associating yourself from certain groups or jamaats.

We are not here to usurp the masaajid committess, and not here to take over and start giving own fatwas without knowledge. Trust me, try and accomplish the fardh then you will have emaan in your heart to see above all this

Assalamu alaykum

If some one offers you an alternate fiqh, just think whether this person has better knowledge and piety than Imam Abu Haneefa RA.

You are a muslim without being a salfi, deobandi, barelvi etc.

Regarding other groups. A community requires soldiers, docotors, engineers, artisans etc. But one cannot serve the community by getting expertise in everything. One has to fit into one of the jobs.

I would advise you to associate with an authentic Shaykh out there in the UK to guide you in these matters.

Most users above are trying to save you from all the secterian polemics. But I think you should know what differences are and should be aware what you're dealing with. To choose the straight path (not a group) is then up to you. So please take the time and read "The Differences in the Ummah & the Straight Path" of Shaheed-e-Islam Hadhrat Maulana Yusuf Ludhyanwi very carefully. Hadhrat Maulana had a very moderate and soft, but yet academical sharp approach. On top of that ask Allah ta'ala to not only show you the straight path, not only guide you towards the straight path, not only place you upon the straight path, but to keep you firm on the straight path untill death!

If a person comes to, regardless if he is barelwi, sufi, salafi, deobandi, say in front of him the kalimah and move away from his company. And I advise what Abu Tamim has in this thread so far.
