Default studying hadeeth
salaam

if i want to study hadeeth inshallah, does it have to be with a hanafi due to needing to know the hanafi terminology and conditions for an authentic hadeeth or can i study with someone from any madhab?

Also, is it recommended to study abu hanifahs kitabul athaar if u study hanafi fiqh? Is it the hanafi equivelent of al muwatta or ummdatul ahkaam? Should it be memorised and is it a key book with key ahadeeth related to hanafi fiqh?

Jazak allahu khair

wa alaykum salaam bro

no doubt your right and my plan is to focus on arabic, tajweed and qur'an memorisation while relying on my trusty beloved bahishti zawar to aid me in learning how to perform all of my acts of worship inshallah in the meantime. However, its good to have a route planned out for what i wish to study inshallah and i dont want to stay away from hadeeth and tafseer completely until im fluent in arabic so nice to know how to get the maximum benefit. Im currently memorising 40hadeeth of imam nawawi with the explanation but want to know where to move to next once i finish inshallah. Id like to memorise kitab al athaar and study the meaning and explanation inshallah but dont want to just do it and then find out its no really utilised by hanafis or the hadeeths are weak or something. So want the goahead from some knowledgable brothers who know a bit about the book and where to start with hadeeth inshallah

السلام عليكم

Don't study Hadith now, wait until you acquire more knowledge about your own Madhab first and then find a suitable scholar of Hadith preferably from Ahlul-Hadith.

jazak allahu khair for ur advice. Might take that one on board inshallah. I got a good cd set on hadeeth from suhaib hassan. The only thing i wondered though was whether each madhab had set criteria for hadeeth. Do u think i shud leave the 40hadeeth im memorising too?

wa alaykum salaam bro, jazak allahu khair but i preder not to jump straight into bukhari as it is not advised. Shaikh bakr abu zayd advised 40hadeeth of nawawi, the ummdatul ahkaam, then bulooghul maraam, then the 6 hadeeth compilations. But he was hanbali. I wondered if there is a hanafi/deobandi suggested route. Is someone able to answer whats wrong with kitabul athaar, every seems to be ignoring it and suggesting other books

Shaykh Riyadh ul Haqs teaching of Bukhari is aimed at the laymen he gives these to the public so I doubt there's a prerequisite to do other Hadith books first. As mentioned he almost always gives the opinion of and within all four madhabs. Also, his English is better than most other speakers.

Not sure how many of his recorded Bukhari lessons are online but you can purchase them (the lessons must be numbering into over a thousand now) or listen free every Friday via their al-kauther website.
