Salam.

Black cats are not jinns.
Jinns usually love to transform into fierce animals like dogs, snakes, tigers, scorpions, etc.
Cats are just too cute and too gentle.
Black dogs are not jinns. But black dogs with WHITE EYEBROWS are jinns (Sahih Muslim).
Jinns don't transform into snakes! When they do they can't transform back! Old Jinns, who are fed up of their life, transform into snakes, to commit suicide. An easy way for Ahle Ilm to find that the snake that he killed is a snake or a Jinn, is to look at its blood. If the bleeds abnormally or/and its blood turns black in sunlight then its a jinn. If it turns whitish like, its a snake! Before killing a snake, it should be asked to leave 3 times, before killing it, if you have that time!

this particular command was abrogated (according to an imam in my community). the command at first was kill all dogs, then just black, then don't kill them at all. period. (excepting self-defense cases etc.)

it's similar to the rules pertaining to drinking alcohol. first you could drink, then this permission was restricted drinking only not immediately before salah, then drinking was forbidden completely.

the above highlights the importance of not plunging into bukhari etc. without a firm background in fiqh or a teacher, as some have done. this comment is just a random musing and is not reflective of any of the individuals on this thread
the book i was talking about was TAREEKH-E-JINNAT WA SHAYATEEN
and i asked about this to my teacher he the black dog is actually shytan or jin and it should be killed
and he told he this incident
hazrat muhammad s.a.w ordered hazrat ali r.a to kill dog where ever you found them(in makkah not remembered correctly) and to tore every picture أو كما قال عليه سلام
and he said you will not able to find any dog in saudia
walikum aslam please correct me where ever you feel i m wrong

Yes, jinns can be in animals, as they can be in weakly protected humans!

People have told me that black cats are inhabited by Jinns, and that if you say "A'oothoobillah Mina Shaytan Al-Rajim, Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Rahim," they would run off.
Black cat superstition is originally from Europe. In the past European people believed if the black cats are "witch agents" and inhabited by evil/demon.

I Don't understand how could Muslims adopt that superstition ?

If you post is intended for me, then I have nothing to debate about. I speak from my experiences, as I'm talib e haqq.. A disciple on the Tareeq of Baatin...

This is Islamic forum... Muslims believe in "Yominoona bil Ghaib", and everything is in Ghaib. Only .000....1% is Zaahir.

Some among the Jinns can transform into many forms, and they can equally possess animals, as they possess humans. In fact, in some types of Sihr, the tamed animals are made to attack their master... They achieve this by sending Shiateen into animals...
