Aoa,

I would like to know whether it is supported by any authentic ahadith the theory that the one who backbites, all his good deeds are given to the person he spoke of?
Abu Hurayra (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (Peace Be Upon Him) once asked his companions: “Do you know who is the bankrupt one?”

The companions replied: “A bankrupt person amongst us is the one who neither has a dirham nor any possessions.”

The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) said: “Rather, the bankrupt person from my Ummah is the one who will come on the Day of Resurrection with a good record of Salah (Prayers), Sawm (Fasts) and Zakah (Obligatory Charity); but he would have offended a person, slandered another, unlawfully consumed the wealth of another person, murdered someone and hit someone. Each one of these people would be given some of the wrong-doer’s good deeds. If his good deeds fall short of settling the account, then their sins will be taken from their account and entered into the wrong-doer’s account and he would be thrown in the Hell Fire.
{Sahih Muslim, Book 32, Hadith Number 6251}

Despair not, Allah is the most merciful.

-Repent sincerely.
-Reconcile with the person you slandered.
-Do good deeds.

Ya Allah forgive all our Sins and save us from Hellfire.
Ameen.

Jazak Allah khair...but what does the islamic shariah say regarding slandering and backbiting those we dont know?or we know them but cant access them?is asking forgiveness for them and ourselves enough as a kuffara in this situation?
for example i may tell my friend that a so and so person did so and so...it may or may not be true. but what do i do then that i may be saved from accountability and transfer of good deeds to their account on the day of judgement?

I m not very knowledgeable in this matter. I m not sure what can be done in that case.

The following points should help you
-Always have in mind Allah is the Ar-Rahmaan, Ar-Raheem. His Mercy is infinite.

-Repent sincerely. Shed some tears. If your eyes are dry, think about the punishment and try to cry sincerely, and Ask for forgiveness. The eye that shed tears for the fear of Allah will not meet Hellfire.

-For the best Dua for Forgiveness, Recite Sayyidul istighfar. : http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...-and-Magrib%29

-Give Sadaqa, as it is great for expatiation of sins.

-Take care of your Parents if they are Alive. Its mentioned in numerous places that it is one of the best deeds that can forgive our sins.

On a side note, Also please make Dua for me, as duas made for others will be considers for the ones who made the dua also. Its one of the Duas thats best answered.

Ulama have written that you make so much dua for them, so much dua, so much dua that your heart tells you that insha'Allah they will forgive you on Qayamat when they see the rewards of your duas for them

sounds like a fair deal. people say the same thing if you feel jealous towards someone. make dua for their betterment
Jazak Allah khair for the advice
