The ahadith that I mentioned are there for you to read. After I present the hadith to you, you are asking whether it was occasionally or regularly. Why don't you read the hadith and reach your conclusions? ....ooooooooo.......those lovely Sicilians. |

For the first time, I am sensing something boiling in your little head, dear friend. I didn't see qunut Al-Zuhr and Fajr yet in any mosque. So what is ur experience? |

generally qunut nazila is done when there is some problem in the ummah,so i think some imaams in some masajids read qunoot in every salah ,last rakah, and i assume dat is qunut nazila-coz wat the muslims are facing in palestine etcc...
other than that qunoot is only in fajr..if i get the hadith and sharah with dalail ill give ,gotu check my books.. |

So, qunut is only recited in the last rakaat of Salat in Fajr and Salat Witr? How if one recites qunut in other prayers? I've also heard that there's a type of qunut which is called nazilah. What is that? |

mishkaat hadith 1290..in this hadith it is said dat rassol sal used to read qunut in every salah..and the sharah given in mirqat is: it shows dat qunnot in the faraaid is not always but if some calamity like drought or the enemy overpowers you ,u can read...chek mirqaat pg 327 beirut copy.. for ur reply. When i was searching in Bukhari, i got following hadiths which r saying qunut was offered in Fajr salat for a reason and it was done for 1 month. Plz see below. Narrated Anas bin Malik: (The tribes of) Ril, Dhakwan, 'Usaiya and Bani Lihyan asked Allah's Apostle to provide them with some men to support them against their enemy. He therefore provided them with seventy men from the Ansar whom we used to call Al-Qurra' in their lifetime. They used to collect wood by daytime and pray at night. When they were at the well of Ma'una, the infidels killed them by betraying them. When this news reached the Prophet , he said Al-qunut for one month In the morning prayer, invoking evil upon some of the 'Arab tribes, upon Ril, Dhakwan, 'Usaiya and Bani Libyan. We used to read a verse of the Qur'an revealed in their connection, but later the verse was cancelled. It was: "convey to our people on our behalf the information that we have met our Lord, and He is pleased with us, and has made us pleased." (Anas bin Malik added Allah's Prophet said qunut for one month in the morning prayer, invoking evil upon some of the 'Arab tribes (namely), Ril, Dhakwan, Usaiya, and Bani Libyan. (Anas added Those seventy Ansari men were killed at the well of Mauna. (Bukhari: Book #59, Hadith #416) Narrated Anas: The Prophet sent a Sariya (an army detachment) consisting of men called Al-Qurra', and all of them were martyred. I had never seen the Prophet so sad over anything as he was over them. So he said qunut (invocation in the prayer) for one month in the Fajr prayer, invoking for Allah's wrath upon the tribe of 'Usaiya, and he used to say, "The people of 'Usaiya have disobeyed Allah and His Apostle." (Bukhari: Book #75, Hadith #403) |

As a Shafi'i, I am taught that qunut is only to be recited during fajr prayer only (sunnah muakkad). As for Qunut Nazilah, this is done when the Ummah are struck with calamities and such, not always. However, some argue that because of the state of the Ummah today, one can perfom it regularly. Allahu a'lam |

I'm sorry. I have another question regarding to qunut. Both are one and the same qunut. What you have asked as the 'first' qunut is half of it and what is below is the second half. It was reported by the Shafi'i hadith master, Imam Bayhaqi in his Sunan. |
