I work on building sites in Australia & have seen married men with children join Facebook, they meet some old friends (women) start talking, start thinking about other women & then spend every single spare minute on Facebook trying to hook up with these women??? It's so sad to think that the Internet is such a bad temptation for some.
And others it brings knowledge through studying sites like this one. |

![]() Hm, I'll have to disagree with not having computer at home. All my work (ie writing and photoshopping cannot be done without it) Perhaps you mean Internet. In that case, I still disagree. (I wouldn't be able to download and listen to my shaykh's bayaans) However I think computers should be placed in the house where everyone can see whatever is on the screen. My computer is right smack in the lounge. Keeping a keylogger or a ps snap shot programme to keep a tab on oneself, or spouse or kids is also a good idea. |

It's dangerous at home for a number of reasons:
A) There are thousands of incidents of broken families because of computers. Without being specific, i can tell you many stories in my own Family how it ruined families and ended up in Talaq. 1) Computer was brought home. The husband was out most of the time. The wife started using computers.... Fell into the wrong things. Ended up in Talaq. 2) Wife started using facebook (very difficult to avoid it), fell in love with this guy. Asked the husband for talaq, husband gave talaq, the lover ran away didn't accept her. Now she's on the streets. 3) Husband started watching silly things on the net. Now he doesn't love his wife anymore. Ends up in talaq. B) Innocent minds are exposed to filth from such a young age which is very dangerous to them. If theres internet, they are bound to see half naked women. They can't help it. It's all over the internet. And you can't control it. If children see this kind of things since their childhood, what would their minds become? What would they grow into? We can see the effects around us. C) You don't have time for any individual Ibadats because of computers are home. Most of the women complain about computers being their SOKANS (second wives of the husbands). They're spending each and every free time they get on the computers. They don't spend time with their family at home. No ibadat, no nothing. No reading Quran, no zikr.. Nothing at all. All day internet. D) There are millions of millions of incidents about our pious muslim girls falling in love with men (mostly wrong ones) and then they ruin their lives. This is the summary. While in office it's different. You can say that it depends upon a person how he uses it, but when the experience has proved it VERY HARMFUL AND FULL OF FITNAH time and again then it's time to take some action. The Fitnah of computers and internet outweighs it's benefits. Allah wants us to close all doors to Fitnah, not even go near Fitnah. So it's best to keep a 10 mile distance from Fitnahs. People were living happily before computers came to their homes. They can live again. There's no real need of computers at home. |

Alhamdulillah for the computer and internet at home and thanks to Allah swt for giving me the towfiq to use it wisely.
As living in an area where I know no practising sisters, internet is the tool with which I connect with some of them and get loads of benefit from. I was able to enrol in an Arabic programme online cos of internet, have no courses around except the 6 years alimah course which I cant get admission in cos of home responsibilties. Alhamdulillah thumma alhamdulillah I'm able to listen to my Sheikh's majaalis live daily on the website while living thousands of miles away from the khanqah. |

There are exceptions ofcourse, but most the time the computer is at home just for the sake of it. The wife wants a computer because she's bored. The children want a computer because everyone at school has a computer.
If your life (deeni or financial) then you can have a computer at home. But just for fun, it shouldn't be brought home. This is the Internet Generation. Our kids are being brought up by the internet. Just what the globalists want. First they wanted TV in our homes. Everyone brought a tv. It ruined us to some extent but some things were still hidden. Now the globalists want Internet in our homes to corrupt our innocent minds. Now you can see things on the internet you wouldn't even dream about seeing 10 years ago. Internet is a big fitnah and computer is the medium to use it. Even without Internet, computers still prove to be dangerous like getting movie dvds and watching them on your laptop/computer. If phones are proving to be fitnah then phones shouldn't be used. Actually the globalists have fed our minds in such a way that each and everyone of us thinks that i am the most important person in the world and I have to stay connected to the world 24/7 otherwise the world would come to an End. It doesn't happen that way. Lock up your mobile phone for a week and you'll see how peaceful your life becomes. Lock up your computer for a week and you'll see yourself doing more zikr, reading more nawafil. Rasool Allah ![]() Each one of you is a shepherd. And each of you will be asked about your flock. A ruler also is a shepherd and he will be asked about his flock. And every man is a shepherd to his family. And every woman is the custodian of her husband’s house and his children. Thus each one of you is a shepherd and each one will be asked about his flock.” [Sahih Bukhari and Muslim] It is out duty to provide our families the best possible environment. |
