What is your view of proportionate? In America you are allowed to shoot the person, I believe here the least we should be allowed to do is at least break there hands and paralyse them ![]() It's called the Castle Law and my state has it on its books! ![]() I can shoot anyone on ma proper-tay so long as I perceive them to be a threat ![]() But seriously, you Brits have got it real bad there. All this non-sense about restricting access to weaponry stems from one thing: keeping the peasants unarmed. It's not about preventing crime; in the US, the areas with the most amount of crime are the areas with the lowest percentage of firearm ownership. Governments in Europe and places such as Japan used to never allow the peasantry to keep swords, bows, firearms, and any other form of weaponry so as to prevent them from succeeding if they should rebel. Most Americans don't understand that this is the wisdom behind the 2nd Amendment. |

This is one of the great things (there are not that many I believe, please correct if am being stupid) of residing in the US, the great firearms debate. But is it true that in certain cities you are not allowed to have them loaded ![]() Regulations vary from state to state, and even from county to county. In the state I live in (Arizona), pretty much anything goes. We can own stuff like miniguns; we're allowed to conceal carry without a permit, I can sell my guns to whoever I want to without having to get papers writ up...yeah, it's pretty cool ![]() Most of the liberal areas of the country have much stricter gun regulations though. I think in Chicago you're not even allowed to have a handgun in the city...but I think that law got overturned after the Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional. |

What is your view of proportionate? In America you are allowed to shoot the person. If you live in Texas and an unarmed man is merely trespassing on your property and you shoot him, it's 100% legal (unless they changed that law since the last time I heard about it) and you probably won't be going to prison. Most of the liberal areas of the country have much stricter gun regulations though. I think in Chicago you're not even allowed to have a handgun in the city...but I think that law got overturned after the Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional. Yeah, all of those gun ban laws were overturned, even in D.C. |

man, this is another thing i dont like about the uk
you have to use equal force, e.g. if he has a bat, then you cannot use more than a bat (which is what i have been told) my neighbours garden has been robbed (bikes, tools etc). and i think of my house was to get stolen from i would grab a bar and let them robbers know about it. but i am always concerned of the conciousness i would have to pay after due to the law etc |
