I think the greatest challenge the Ummah faces in this day and age is that of "voluntary segregation", creating self imposed Ghettos, in a bid to "save" ones imaan, create and "protect" oneself, family and society from the outside "influence and corruption". The downside to this is that one is totally cut off from "secular" society and hence alienates one self from other non Muslims. They then perceive the Muslims as conceited, self centred and aloof. Not into politics or civic responsibilities.... any thoughts? |

Assalaamoalaykum-w-w Four hours and no answer. The question must be a difficult one. Beloved Prophet (PBUH) said that make your house extended. Meaning that do not go out with out express necessity. Now since the house is, in general, in Muslim locality therefore it becomes a ghetto inside a ghetto. But that is just technicality. The matter of fact is that you can go out if there is necessity. And if there is necessity you might venture into the other area too. I hope this gets the ball rolling. Wassalam |

In Malawi here in central africa, in 1969 a lot of the local shaykhs came together and boycotted christian school coz they said these were bribing the children. Anyway the christians who were the minority then became educated and naturally became political leaders. In 20 years they turned the country around and made the majority of the population Christian!! |
