Regarding the Hanafi position, animals that are born and live in water are all Haram with the exception of fish. All types of fishes are Halal, with the exception of that which dies naturally in the sea without any external cause. (http://www.central-mosque.com/fiqh/fhalal1.htm)

Crabs/Lobsters? (Hanafi): From seafood, only fish is made Halaal for us. Rasulullah (Sallallaahu
Alayhi Wasallam) said, 'Two carions are made Halaal for us; Fish and locust.
' (Mishkaat vol.2 pg.361). Fish is classified as a Vertebra. Crabs and
lobsters are not vertebras but they belong to the Crustaece group, hence,
not permissible. and Allah Ta'ala Knows Best
Mufti Ebrahim Desai (http://www.islam.tc/cgi-bin/askimam/...=2389&act=view)

Prawns? (Hanafi): The permissibility of eating prawns or otherwise [according to the Hanafi Fuqaha] depends on whether they are considered from the fish family or not.
Many scholars of the Arabic language like Zabeedi, Fayrozabadi and others have considered prawns as fish. On the other hand the contemporary zoologists do not consider prawns as fish as they do not have a spine..
Normally, the ruling of such issues are not based on technical research rather it is based upon the understanding of the common people, and we have learnt that according to the understanding of the scholars of the Arabic language prawns are considered fish.
Moreover, according to the other 3 schools of Fiqh, to eat prawns is totally permissible which makes a leniency in the ruling.
Therefore it is permissible to eat prawns, but to refrain and abstain is always advisable.
Only Allah knows best

According to Mufti Afzal Hoosen Elias Saheb, who is a Hanfi, he mentions to the effect that according to Hanfi mazhab all sea food is permissible except for Water Hog and Frogs, the reference Mufti Saheb gives is Jawahirul Fiqh written by Mufti Abd al Salaam Chatgami Printed by 'Islaamic Kutub Khana' - Allamah Binori Town Karachi.
But not all Muftis agree with this,so there is a difference of opinion.
