One ought to learn the fiqh based on his life circumstance and accesibility to scholar and materials. This has always been the norm. |

a friend of mine here in the netherlands, he is midle aged, convert, married to a moroccan (maliki) woman. Does he speak english fluently? It all depends on how deep the lessons he need are (how long has he been Muslim? does he know the very basic things? does he need 2 start from scratch?) What caught my attention is "he's on a budget"....we have 2 be able to assist those people...not everyone can afford to pay for online stuff; at the same time, those who teach online are in need of financial support. I remember seeing that "seekers guidance" has an option for people who need financial aid. Does he not have access to someone in his city/neighborhood? Does he need 2 study texts or just to have access to someone to ask questions on a regular basis? Try seekers guidance and if u don't get what u need there, let me know in shaa Allah, I will see what the most appropriate way to assist is (on teaching/replying 2 questions). May Allah make it easy. |

Salaam. His financial situation is realy not good. It goes even to the extreme that some months he can barely pay his rents.. He is living in a small village without a lott of Muslims. And besides that, here in the Netherlands the salafi da'wa is ruling, so there aren't much good lessons even in the big city (where he can not travel due to finances). So I think he needs te basics of ahlusunna 'aqida (wich will work out with the tahawiya lesson insha'Allah), Maliki (usul al) fiqh and tasawuf, so he becomes firmly established in classical knowledge wich will not make him go astray whenever he is confronted by salafis. Jazaka'Allahu gair for thinking with me. |

Itla3! sorry for the silence. Really quick: I have a good recording on tasawwuf; "Matharatul Qulub" (Purification of the heart) with an English translation. It's very informative. It's a masjid dars by an 'aalim from Mauritania, held in the US. It's at least 10 hrs total...maybe more....It covers tasawwuf in depth. On fiqh....the mukhtasar of al Akhdari is a very good book. Ibn Ashir is also very good, though more advanced than al Akhdari. There is a recording of duruus on Ibn Ashir by the same 'aalim; I don't have them with me now, it would take me about a week to 10 days to get a hold of them in shaa Allah. Usul is not necessary for him to study. If you are interested in the recording on tasawwuf, I can send you the link to the files for him/you to download. Also, there is a recording on seera nabawiyya as well, which is very informative and nice. That should be enough to keep him busy until we can find the Ibn Ashir recording. On fiqh, recordings are not sufficient, but they are useful. He needs access to someone who can answer his questions when he has some confusing matters to clear; that can be done through email or through a lesson. I will think about someone who can maybe assist him through scheduled lessons for free if he has regular access to the web. Mukhtar |

Salaam, If you could get me the tasawuf recording, it would also benefit me! And if you could get a hold of the ibn 'Ashir durus (Murshid al Mu'in I suppose?), it would be very nice also! The same for the recording on seera nabawiyya. I think in this period it is sufficient for him to listen to the recordings and maybe if you have the emailadres of someone he can ask question to. After these recordings, when he is a little bit more firmly established in basic knowledge he can take scheduled lessons. I think he has to adjust his life to it also, so that would be easier I think after he tasted from the recordings. Jazaka'Allahu gair, you're the best! |

No sorry! You are realy helping me! Thank you very much! Please let me know when u're done downloading them. I will leave them online until you do so; Yes, the Ibn Ashir dars is Murshidul Mu'een. I will send you the seera dars later on in shaa Allah; probably in a day or 2, I have 2 upload it. As far as salafis, the best advice you can give him is not to worry about them; rather to go along his daily business and ignore them. There are many other useful things to do rather than arguing with them, or even listening to what they have to say. May Allah make it easy for him. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10938197/Pur...TheHeart_1.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10938197/Pur...TheHeart_2.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10938197/Pur...TheHeart_3.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10938197/Pur...TheHeart_4.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10938197/Pur...TheHeart_5.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10938197/Pur...TheHeart_6.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10938197/Pur...TheHeart_7.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10938197/Pur...TheHeart_8.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10938197/Pur...TheHeart_9.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10938197/Pur...heHeart_10.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10938197/Pur...heHeart_11.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10938197/Pur...heHeart_12.mp3 |

It does not make any difference in terms of tassawuf which schools of Jurisprudance one adheres to. It is higly impractical to learn about tassawuf from the other side of the world. The sciences itself calls for face to face & heart to heart contact. One can't equate tassawuf with Fiqhi learning. My humble advise find a local orthodox shaikh of tassawuf and learn whatever fiqh is suitable from different scholar. One is putting more difficulties then one needs. @mukhtar, I've downloaded them, only the last 3 lessons don't work. |

No teachers here, only salafis.. I've checked the last 3 lessons; they're fine on my machine. Just try downloading them again. I hope it's of benefit. I will post Ibn Ashir; but give me time 2 listen to it first, to make sure it's not 2 complicated. Mukhtar |

No teachers here, only salafis.. regarding "learning tasawwuf from the other side of the world".... The recordings I gave you are meant as a learning tool, not a substitute. Now, the person being in a remote area as you mentioned, and not having the means to have contact with 'ulama, whether for fiqh or tasawwuf....the recordings are in shaa Allah, much better than nothing. If he listens attentively, he will surely benefit. Those who are not able to find mashaikh are offered alternatives by the mashaikh themselves; that alternative is reading/listening to the accounts of the pious people of the past. As far as fiqh goes, the brother is correct that the most practical fiqh should be chosen; if no Maliki fuqaha are available in a place, one should adopt another fiqh which will be easier to get access to. Obviously, one may just have love for one of the aimma's madhab more than another one...we can not blame the person for that, but we should just make him aware of any considerations due to his location etc....if he still insists, we just assist him in whatever way he can... Let me know how it goes wiht the recordings. May Allah reward you for assisting the brother. |

Ma'a salama, Brother I just have a small advise about the wordings you use in your signature "the great sinner" although i understand that your intention by this is to submit the fact that you (in fact its every one of us) is a sinner and you seek pardon/Mughfirah from ALLAH SWT, but still its not nice to write or speak out every where the same but its better to always seek pardon/Mughfirah from Allah SWT, you can rather use "May Allah Bless Me" or "May Allah Pardon Me" or something through which you ask refuge to ALLAH. Wassalam |
