ASA everyone,
It' been a while since I have been able to post on this forum. I have been completely immersed in school and work that I just haven't had the opportunity to come on much. Things are pretty much the same with regards to my sister. She is still quite verbally abusive to my mother. My parents are in the midst of selling the house and business. On a positive note, I was able to get several interviews for medical school. I am very grateful for this opportunity as I didn't have much faith in my application due the stress. But I believe some people were able to see the other strengths in my application aside from numbers and were able to see my genuine passion for helping others (primarily poor/low-income families). I was interviewed by a school near our house (50 miles) and I would be so overjoyed if I could attend due to the proximity to us. My brother is young and it would be good for me to be by him during my parent's divorce. If it weren't for him, I would be happy anywhere, but I feel that it would be traumatic for me to just leave him amidst the mess. I would really appreciate it if you all could make du'a for me in this endeavor. I am truly blessed to have met all of you on this forum and your prayers are truly appreciated. I sincerely pray for everyones happiness and success in life. -Ehsan |

WSA
Thank you all for the tremendous support and dua's. Things are very tense at home and my parents are currently trying to sell the home, which is a big challenge in today's market. In addition, my father will need to undergo major invasive surgery soon due to his poor health. My mom is not doing too great either. My sister has been diagnosed as being clinically depressed and her anger fits just keep on getting worse. If I had it my way, I would wait things out and try to pull them through this tough phase by putting my medical school aspirations aside for the time being. However, my parents are pushing on me and keep trying to tell me that things are going to be okay so that I will maintain continuity in my education. I just graduated yesterday and there's a fight today as well in our house. My sister goes to her friends homes (who are boys) till 12:50 AM and she made a big uproar about attending my graduation due to the fact that she had finals. She eats her three meals a day outside (at expensive restaurants) and has my dad actually get them and deliver them upstairs to her room. She honestly doesn't have the ability to have any empathy or compassion for anyone (not even her own parents). This is all very disheartening. However, as I had mentioned in my original post, I can't do anything much to help my family in this regard. But, by attending medical school nearby, I can at least stay close to my 9 year old brother and be there for him so he can be spared of any mental trauma that will ensue over the course of the next few months. Alhamduillah, I called the admissions office at the school I am interested in last week and they told me I am on the waiting list. There are about 20 individuals on the list (which is unranked) and there are 2 spots left for the running. Eventhough the statistics do not look too promising, I am extremely happy that I was not outright rejected. I can find out any time from now until the end of July, so I am hoping for the best. I am confident that this is due to the powerful and sincere dua's that I received from all of my brothers and sisters on this forum. I am truly thankful to all of you for your dua's and ask you to remember me in your prayers. Thank you and I wish you all the best. Kindly, Ehsan |
