Default Burning incense?
Salaam.
I was wondering if it is allowed to burn incense? I went shopping recently and saw some and I wanted to buy it, but my friend said that it attracts jinns and therefore, we're not allowed to use them. Is this true? I hope this is not true cos they smelt really nice and made me feel all sleepy and stuff I know that some otehr cultures use incense, but I'm snot sure what they use it for. Could anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Burning incense is recommended, and you should do it often...

Is the burning of incense specifically recommend, or is it "recommended" because burning it would fall under the general recommendation of using good scents and perfumes?

Burning incense stick ( Agarbatti ) is more traditional than religous.
Their is no harm in this as it is neither Haraam nor Makrooh.

Although Ulama in my place do not say burn incense is haram, they forbid ummah to burn incenses, both block and stick.

In my place, incense block commonly used by magician in black magic, or used in Shirk rite. Incense sticks are used by Confusian or Tao people in their rite.

But Ulama do not forbid ummah to use modern aromatherapy.

good creatures like good smells. bad creatures like foul odors and carcass smells like graveyard smells and such.

I particularly love many of the incense like potcholi and jasmine and some of the flowers like night blossoming jasmine sometimes and rose Allah swt keep you happy I also like the bakhoor stuff. sometimes I will venture out there and put on a vanilla or a strawberry incense just to change it up a bit.

they are averse to some strong smells, such as that of burning/burnt peppers.

Additionally, used hookah water is also repellant to them.

Burning incense is good, but with proper hisaari Zikr, and in the sitting of Zikr, for Zuhd and Tahaarat, but you should also know that different types of incense attracts different things, so be cautious in the type of incense that you burn, and the purpose of it!

Assalamu Alaikum

I recently met a Maulana who is the Imam of a Musallah, and I saw bringing the burning incense in the prayer room and placing it by him when he is leading salah. He said burning incense is a sunnah of the sahaba and to burn incense is mustahab. He also said that burning incense while praying is like using perfume, and it would attract the angels because angles like the fragrances that humans like.

The stern angelic guards on Noori Azkaar are called Alvi Moqileen! Incense is very beautiful thing, but if the zikr that the person is doing turns into Zakat e Amal, unintentionally, then whatever the moqileen of that Zikr are would definitely have a presence. Now, its not necessary that the person may be fulfilling the conditions of Zakat e Amal, because he won't even know it, so it may affect other creatures in negative way, like they may feel chains in their necks and being dragged to the one who is doing that Zikr, so if the conditions of that unintentional Amal aren't met, harm is certain. As far as plain simple recitals, and Azkaar are concerned, yes, its excellent. All the Noori Things like incense! By plain and simple Zikr I mean Salah, or one time plain recital of a Surah Mubarik. Pl note, its not necessary that the person would be always invoking on an Amal unintentionally, so the changes are rare! The rule is go plain and strait, unless you know what you are doing.
