On 20th May the Muslims attending the Jumuah prayer at Sofia's mosque were attacked by the ultra-nationalist party Ataka.

Muslims in Sofia want to build a mosque and an Islamic center because the only mosque in the city does not accomodate all praying people and they pray in the street. Since 2008 the Muslims haven't received any answer from the municipality for building the mosque.

Last week a Muslim female student was attacked by nationalist because of her hijab. Muslim women are afraid to go out with hijab because of such shaytans. 2 weeks ago a woman with hijab was not allowed to enter a bank!

In schools and some universities hijab is banned!

Muslims in Bulgaria make up to 20% of the population but our rights are being restricted.
