Salaams,
I'm new to the forums this is my first post and I'm really looking forward to becoming a part of the community. I'm wondering if anyone on this site can help me come up with ideas on good places to live throughout the world preferably like a muslim village, or just some place that is somewhat secluded but close to a city. I'm doing this research because I'm looking to finish my undergraduate studies and insha'Allah some graduate studies and then moving out of the states to somewhere else that would allow me to focus on the deen without as many distractions. I was born and raised in the US and specifically a city in New Jersey literally across the river from NYC. I'm currently doing my undergraduate studies a large research university and I'm really considering moving out of the US to some place more peaceful without all the distractions and political nonsense that goes on in this country. I have really no clue where to begin or what countries to look at but I'm looking for some ideas. Maybe somewhere with a fairly strong economy with job prospects for an engineer or a consultant, a stable government, and a sizeable muslim presence. Thanks for the help and any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks, James |

I know you said Muslim village or somewhere with a sizable Islamic presence with a good economy & work...
Australia! I live in Melbourne, the northern suburbs where i am are majority Muslim, 6 mosques within 5 km radius, halal shops, halal restaurants, even our mcdonalds is halal, certain suburbs only have Islamic owned & operated shops schools etc... We are 40 minutes from the cbd, it's more of a country environment. Something to think about? |

Wow thanks so much for the suggestions.
@Melbourne Does the suburb you live in have a specific name? I would like to do more research on it. Also is there any diversity in the community you live in? different races etc.? I really like the fact that you said its a country environment. Because I feel like the distractions in an environment like this would be minimal. @Abu_Tamim One of my friends studied in Dubai for two years to learn arabic and enjoyed his time in the country. My biggest question is how much does it cost live in dubai and how is the job market for engineers? How much is a two bedroom condo or a normal house? @FususAlHikam I think i know a Syrian girl from that area but i'm not sure. She told me shes from a suburb in Chicago. How much would a house be in the area you live just a normal sized two bedroom. Again thanks soo much everyone for the recommendations and help. I really appreciate it all. |

Assalamu alaikum jamez.
I live in roxburgh park, it's predominantly Lebanese & Iraqi, but also mixed minority of different nationalities. Other suburbs are meadow heights, campbellfield, broadmeadows, fawner, glenroy, coburg & brunswick. All have large Islamic populations. Roxburgh park is the furthest from the city centre and Brunswick the closest. There are Islamic schools, mosques, restaurants, shops etc in all all of these suburbs. Sydney road from coburg to Brunswick has many Lebanese, Iraqi, afghan, Turkish etc restaurants that are halal. If you want more info please let me know. |

Canada Canada Canada!
So many places in British Columbia and Ontario to choose from, there are quite a few in Quebec as well. Halal food at 30-40% of the restaurants (and they range from hakka to mexican so you're not limited to naan kebab ![]() Housing is great and ranges to fit whichever bugdet (so even in very high end communities, you can find a street of more affordable housing). I forgot to mention JOBS ![]() |

Assalamu alaikum sister sm1.
Where to start? Mcdonalds roxburgh park is halal. Ottoman kebab, Roxy kebab, Islamic youth centre, vie cafe, world of kaos all restaurants in roxburgh park. Fresh plus halal supermarket & one butcher roxburgh park. Campbellfield, barry road about 8 halal shops, restaurants, cafe & butcher. Meadow heights shopping centre nearly all shops are halal. Broadmeadows shopping centre Turkish restaurant. Glenroy has halal bakery on glenroy road & Turkish restaurant. Fawkner has halal bakeries. Coburg and Brunswick has around 20 halal restaurants. Just a quick search on iPhone application Zabihah came up with 24 restaurants within 8km of Roxburgh Park. Inshallah I hope this helps? |

Salaams, ----------------------------------------------------------- Muslims of the Americas was founded in 1980 by Gilani on a trip to New York. Among other projects it has model communities in the Town of Hancock, New York, called Islamberg, and in York County, South Carolina, called Holy Islamville. ------------------------- More information about them are available in these threads. http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...e-needed/page2 http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...ese-guys/page4 |

Dallas, TX (near Bayiinah Institute) and over around San Francisco (near Zaytuna College) both have good muslims communities. Zaytuna's old location is actually going to be turned into a gated muslim community apparently (I don't much like that idea, but still). I've never visited either of these places, but I have heard others speak of what good communities they have.

Its unfurnished, for furnished places you have to pay more. A studio apartment here is about $500. ![]() Huh. I'd up and move to Chicago as soon as I graduated with prices like that, but that would be abandoning my parents which sounds Islamically incorrect to me (not that I know for certain). In NYC, $500 a month gets you a rat-infested walk-in closet in East New York, and you probably have to do the landlord's laundry and dishes along with it. |

Salaams, I think Qatar is the best place.. a very stable economy and government and a very large engineering community. |
