Default The World and man
Salaam aleykum,
I wrote this not to humiliate, but to call Muslims back to Islam, back to Allah, back to salvation. Everyone will find themselves here, they will know where they are (in what condition they are as Muslims) when reading this. And every error I commit comes from shaytan and myself, and every guidance comes from Allah (Azza wa Jall). May Allah guide us to His Light, and give us protection against the evils of this World, Ameen.

***

Many people wonder in darkness in this life, many people deviated from the straight path, and most people follow falsehood rather than truth. Allah (swt) created us with a purpose, and gave us a reason to fulfill this purpose. But most men are ignorant of this and are arrogant. Although Allah (swt) created mankind with the sound Fitrah, people still deviate from the right path by choosing the paths of the shayatin; the paths which leads to the Destruction (Hell). The correct monotheistic belief is now mixed with a twisted Shirk (polytheism, associating partners with Allah, etc.); and even when the belief is monotheistic the deeds (of those people who are in love with this World) are dirty and black. Their (deeds’) smell is of the worst poison, and their taste is that of whims and desires. These people have sold their souls for a miserable prize; for this World. Thus they enslaved themselves in this world; and as for the Hereafter, they will be in the worst prison known, called Hell. Their hearts are blinded by their whims and desire, being unable to see and receive the Light of Allah (swt), and their brains have been closed from comprehending the reality of this World and the Hereafter. Their hands and feet are locked by their extreme love for this World, and thus are unable to perform good deeds (for the sake of Allah). How can you then, ask them to come back to Islam? How can they listen, when they are deaf? How can they see clear and understand, when their heart is blind and brain is closed?
These are they who have purchased error for guidance, so their commerce was profitless. And they were not guided. Their likeness is as the likeness of one who kindled a fire; then, when it lighted all around him, Allâh took away their light and left them in darkness. (So) they could not see. They are deaf, dumb, and blind, so they return not (to the Right Path). (Qur’an 2:16-18)

In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and Allah has increased their disease. A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies. (Qur'an 2:10)

When they meet those who believe, they say, 'We believe.' But then when they go apart with their satans, they say, 'We are really with you. We were only mocking.' (Qur'an, 2:14)

Do not be like this! Do not act like this! Do not even think like this! Man’s desire for these worldly pleasures is never enough, and it is just increasing until finally he realizes that he is going to be buried in a hole, in which eternal torture awaits him. And Allah (Azza wa Jall) said: "As for him who disbelieves, I shall leave him in contentment for a while, then I shall compel him to the torment of the Fire, and worst indeed is that destination!" (Qur’an 2:126)
They shall receive the reward of what they earned and you of what you earn. And you will not be asked of what they used to do. (Qur’an 2:134)
Allah (swt) is not unaware of what mankind does. Allah (swt) is the Most Just; and you cannot escape from His justice. Allah (swt) gives the parable of this world: “And put forward to them the example of the life of this world: it is like the water (rain) which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it, and becomes fresh and green. But (later) it becomes dry and broken pieces, which the winds scatter. And Allah is Able to do everything.” (Qur’an 18:45)
And mix not truth with falsehood, nor conceal the truth. (Qur’an 2:42)

It is reported that ‘Alî b. Abî Tâlib (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) wrote to Salmâm Al-Farsî,(radiyAllahu ‘anhu): The likeness of this worldly life (dunyâ) is that of a snake: soft to the touch, it will kill you with its poison. So turn away from what impresses you of it, since what stays with you is so little. And do not be concerned about it, since you are certain about its parting. And be most happy in it when you are most heedful of it; for every time its companion takes solace in one of its delights, it gives way to one of its woes. Peace be to you. (Ibn Abî Al-Dunyâ, Kitâb Al-Zuhd article 164)

‘Umar bin Abdul Aziz said in a speech that he gave: “This life is not your permanent residence; for Allah has written that it is bound to end and its people depart it. There are many people who build and establish what is minute and bound to perish. There are many dwellers, who feel ease but will soon depart their dwellings. Therefore, may Allah grant you His Mercy, prepare for the journey using the best means that are available to you. Provide yourself with adequate provisions, and surely, the best provision is Taqwah (piety). Since this life is not permanent dwelling or an everlasting home, then the believer should be either a stranger living in a strange land, dedicating his attention to going back to his homeland. Or, the believer should be like a traveler who does not remain in any particular area. Rather, he travels by night and day towards his place of residence.” (Jami’ul-Ulum Wal-Hikam, p.379)

Abu Hazim said: “He who discovers the true reality of life, will not feel delight in time of ease or feel grief for a hardship.” (Life is a Fading Shadow, by Abdul-Malik Muhammad ibn Abdul Rahman al-Qasim, p.17 [English translated version])
Hasan Al-Basri said: “O son of Adam! Life is only days, so if our day passes, your life becomes shorter.” (Life is a Fading Shadow, by Abdul-Malik Muhammad ibn Abdul Rahman al-Qasim, p.22 [English translated version])
You have been in love with this world; so far you have been its slave. Where has the sense of your mind been then? You have buried the key which could open the door in your heart; the door which would have given you access to The Light of Allah (swt). Never will you understand the reality of this worldly life unless you dig the ground where you have buried the key; and find it. Your shovel for digging is your Intention; and the key is Knowledge, and the place where it was buried is in your heart; so seek it there. Repent to Allah (swt), so that you can find the key to the door of Light. But you want the pleasures of this world. How foolish you are! You’re stuck in an (worldly) Illusion which soon will finish, and once it’s finished you’ll realize you’re doomed in a prison in Hell Fire. You strive for this Illusion, and you speak in its name; yet the Illusion is deceiving you in the smartest way possible, and you’re not even aware of it. It puts the shackles of Hell Fire to your hands and feet, slowly and idly; but you love this Worldly life, you’re blind and deaf to realizing any reality.
Hear well; Abu Ad-Darda said: “He who feels that he is in need of this life, then he has no life.” (Hilyatul-Awliya, vol.1, p.210)
Al-Hasan said: “In this life, the believer is just like a prisoner who strives hard to free his neck; he never feels safe until he meets Allah, the Exalted and Most Honored.” (Jami’ul-Ulum wal-Hikam, p.269)

A man wrote to his brother: “This life is just like a dream, while the Hereafter is the time of waking up, and between them there is death. Therefore we are in the midst of a dream, and peace be to you.” (Life is a Fading Shadow, by Abdul-Malik Muhammad ibn Abdul Rahman al-Qasim, p.39 [English translated version])
One of the Salaf said: “Beware of the life of the world, because it is a magician more skilled than Harut and Marut. They could cause a separation between a husband and his wife, but this life separates between the slave and his Lord.” (Tasliyah Ahlil-Masa’ib, p.248)

“The life of this world is short, and the most rich in it are still poor. Death is about to strike you and bring the smell of the wind of estrangement, even before you depart this life, and make known to you the imminent orphaning of your offspring. Therefore, wake up from your sleep of heedlessness and thoughtlessness, and remove love of this life from your heart. Surely when the slave closes his eyes and perishes, he will wish that he is given respite, but his request will be denied.” (‘Iddatus-Sabirin, by Imam Ibn Al-Qayim, p.329)

And it is narrated by Mahmud bin Labid (radiyAllahu ‘anhu.); that Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) said: “The most dreadful thing which I fear about you is minor polytheism.” The companions asked: “What is the minor polytheism?” He said: “It is hypocrisy”; and he added that on the Day of Judgment, when rewarding people for their deeds, Allah will say to the hypocrites: “Go to those for the sake of whom you used to perform good deeds; and see whether you can get any reward from them.” (Ahmad)

O people; have you then no sense! Where is your love for Allah (swt)?! You have been praying 5 times a day; thinking you washed your sins away, but they’re still black and dirty! You are like a duck that is day and night on water, but is still dirty and smelly! “How can it be?” you’re asking me.
It can be very well, because it is narrated from ‘Umar (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: "The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. So whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration was for what he emigrated for."(Bukhari)
So tell me now, are your intentions pure? If so, why are you in loved with the pleasures of this worldly life? Why is someone else and something else, more loving to you than Allah (swt)? You give up to anger, you beat your wife; and you insult and fight whoever insults you, but the worst is that you speak to others that which you do not do at all! How awful is the hypocrite when we see he’s real face!
Allah says: Give to the hypocrites the tidings that there is for them a painful torment. (Qur’an 4:138)
You neglect the Qur’an, but you learn it to earn fame and wealth; and you mock it with your many sins and hypocritical repentance. And it is narrated by Abu Huraira,(radiyAllahu ‘anhu) that the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: “If anyone acquires knowledge of things by which Allah's good pleasure is sought, but acquires it only to get some worldly advantage, he will not experience the arf, i.e. the odour, of Paradise.” (Abu Dawud)

Mâlik b. Dînâr once said: “Verily you are in greatly troubled times. Only one with true insight knows the times you live in. Verily you are in a time of [people] boasting and being proud. Their tongues are swollen in their mouths, and they seek worldly gain through the deeds of the hereafter. So be warned against them for yourselves, lest they catch you in their nets. O scholar, you are a scholar yet you devour [wealth] with your knowledge. O scholar, you are a scholar yet you boast with your knowledge. O scholar, you are a scholar yet you seek to amass [wealth] with your knowledge. O scholar, you are a scholar yet you transgress [against others] with your knowledge. If you had truly sought this knowledge for Allâh, it would have been seen on you and in your deeds.” (Abű Bakr Al-Âjurrî, Kitâb Al-’Âlim Al-Jâhil article 73 et al. Graded sahîh by Shaykh Yahyâ Al-Hajűrî in his edition of the book)

It is reported that ‘Abdullâh b. Mas’űd (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) said: “The example of the believer, the unbeliever and the hypocrite is that of three people who arrived at a valley. One of them descended and passed through to the other side. One of them descended until he reached half way, when the third man on the edge of the valley called to him, “Woe to you, where are you going? You will die. Come back.” The man who made it to the other side called to him, “Come and be saved.” So [the man in the middle of the valley] kept looking back and forth at the two [on each side of the valley], when a flood came into the valley and drowned him. The man who passed through to the other side is the believer; the one who drowned is the munâfiq (hypocrite). [The Hypocrites] sway between this and that, neither [fully] with the believers nor with the unbelievers. (Quran 4:143)
And the one who remained at the edge of the valley [not able to escape the flood and pass] is the kâfir (unbeliever).” (Ibn Abî Hâtim, Al-Tafsîr)

Surely, Allâh will collect the hypocrites and disbelievers all together in Hell. (Qur’an 4:140)

Al-Hasan said about the one who is neglectful of the Hereafter: “Amazing is he who laughs, even though the Fire is in front of him, and feels elation, while death is awaiting him!” (Tanbihul-Ghafilin, vol.1, p.212)
‘Umar (radiyallahu anhu) said about the disbeliever and hypocrite: “Woe to he to whom this life represents his hope and the sins are his deeds, whose appetite is tremendous, whose wisdom is minute, who has knowledge of this life but is ignorant of the Hereafter.” (Al-‘Aqibah, p.90)

On the authority of Sahl Bin Sa'ad Al-Sa'idi (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If in the sight of Allah the world had the value equal to that of the wing of a mosquito, He would not have allowed a disbeliever even to have a mouthful of water out of it." (Tirmidhi)

The life of this world is nothing but an illusion. You’re in a dream; and you’ll wake up once death comes upon you. This world; will disappear one day, just as you will disappear from this world once you’re dead. Allah says: Verily the likeness of (this) worldly life is as the water (rain) which We send down from the sky, so by it arises the intermingled produce of the earth of which men and cattle eat until when the earth is clad with its adornments and is beautified, and its people think that they have all the powers of disposal over it, Our Command reaches it by night or by day and We make it like a clean-mown harvest, as if it had not flourished yesterday! Thus do We explain the Ayât (proofs, evidences, Verses, lessons, Signs, revelations, laws, etc.) in detail for the people who reflect. (Qur’an 10:24)

It is reported from ‘Alî b. Abî Tâlib (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) that he said: “The thing I fear for you most is following desires and having extensive hopes (about this worldly life). Following one’s desires blocks you from the truth, and having extensive hopes makes you forget the hereafter. Verily, this worldly life is departing and the hereafter is approaching and each of them has its children. So be children of the hereafter, not children of this world, for today there are (opportunities to do) deeds and there is no reckoning, but tomorrow there will be reckoning and no deeds. (Quoted by Al-Bukhârî, Al-Sahîh, The Book of Raqâ`iq without the first sentence. Reported in its entirety by Abű Nu’aym, Hilyah Al-Awliyâ` Vol.1 p40, and others)

And the life of this world is nothing but play and amusement. But far better is the house in the Hereafter for those who are Al¬Muttaqűn (the pious - see V.2:2). Will you not then understand? (Qur’an 6:32)
Among you are some that desire this world and some that desire the Hereafter. (Qur’an 3:152)
Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception (a deceiving thing). (Qur’an 3:185)

Matters are hurtling to their conclusion and what is left of the world but dying seconds:

'The sun is about to set, and what remains of this world, compared to what has passed, is like what remains of this day compared to what has passed.' (Ahmad)

It is also inevitable that the quality of the human being will deteriorate as we come closer to Qiyamah, whether that human being is kaafir or Muslim regardless:

There will be a decline in religious faith and nothing would be left of Islam except its name and nothing would be left of the Holy Qura’an except its text. Mosques though full of worshipers will be empty of guidance. The religious scholars will be the worst creation under the canopy of Heaven”. (Mishkat-ul Masabih, p.88 & Kanaz-ul Ummal, vol.6 p.43

" Islam will become worn out like clothes are, until no one will know what fasting, prayer, charity and rituals are...."

Mirdas al-Aslami reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The righteous will disappear one by one until only the dregs remain like the dregs of barley or dates and Allah will not care about them at all."" [Agreed upon]
