Can someone please be generous to tell me more about Maktaba Shamila? Do I need ot buy it? Or download it or is there some other way of using it? How do I access it from a pc and can it be used with iphone 4?

Assalamu 'Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu,

I've recently downloaded it and it's a big headache trying to get it working correctly.
My connection is horrible so I had to download them into parts (1-22) which took about 20min. each
Afterwards, I am trying to combine them somehow but it's an obstacle. I will notify you if I find out how to use it.
Inshallah we will benefit greatly from such a sublime software.

Does the online version of shamela in the link provided by Maulana KTGD work as well as the downloaded version?

Ok, I just looked into the issue. Now, all you need to do is to download this file http://www.archive.org/download/Sham...elaLibrary.rar

and extract it [it takes long time to extract]. Then, click on _Shamela.exe to run it. It is working like charm, no installation is needed.

I tried doing this but have not got very far. The file is a 7 hour download and after approx 30 mins the operation times out. There is probably (hopefully) a very simple solution to this , so in order to avoid boring the rest of the members, Brother verdana can I ask my brother to email you with a few of my questions?

It works like a charm as someone mentioned. I just downloaded the (2Gb) file in about 2 hours last night before work and extracted as told. Then, there is one update you can add in order to begin exploring and reaping the fruits of knowledge. May Allah increase us all in beneficial knowledge.

Remember, Shamila is 15 gig or more hence it will take time to extract. Another thing is make sure the Uni Code and Arabic settings are applied on your computer.
