Bismillah...
Assalamu `Alaykum wa Rahmatullah... A Wali according to the Qur'an is a person of Iman and Taqwa. Taqwa refers to doing those things that are commanded and leaving those things which are prohibited inwardly and outwardly. We should all strive to become Awliya' Allah. Allahumma Ij`alna Ma`ahum wa Feehim, Innahu Akram al-Akramin wa Arhmam ar-Rahimin! Therefore, although we cannot be certain, if we observe a person who is doing the above things sincerely, then we could assume him a Wali though I could be corrected. This comes in useful when looking for a Shaykh. Da`watukum wa `Afwan Minkum, Wassalam |

When you see them, you remember Allah. They do not need to speak. The love of Allah exudes from them and their concern for human and even animal manifest. They are humble and true zakir,Abid and do not stray from Shariah in external and internal matters. They have wisdom and clarity of thought and speech. A true wali tries utmost to overcome short comming in falling into sin and is made aware of mistakes and sins and run to Allah's forgivness in earnest with humility & sincerety.
They stay away from all sins and their heart is filled with intense love of Allah and his Rasul and this love almost manifest toward fellow muslim alike. They do not exhbit hatefull tendency inspite of their knoweldge or belittle ones. One does not have to be scholar to be wali. The piety and taqwa is not dictated by the knowledge. Basically someone with prophetic quality in mannerism, concern without being a prophet. Allahualam |

I would also like to add that these people are also like gold to be with. They are of exemplary character and we should look upon them as role models after obviously pyaare NABI SAW. |

(2) Please do not remove it. These are the type of things that one should revise ten times a day. (3) Please do not remove your other posts also. (4) A Wali is one who does not commit sins. That is the simplest requirement. (5) Then any addition of obedience to Allah increases the stature. (6) For example higher the level of Taqwa higher is the stature of the Wali. (7) This still does not answer the OP. (8) I am not a great Wali of Allah ( ). This answers the OP. So what if it is a useless answer? (9) I thought I'll give Colonel's example but somehow he got himself banned. ![]() (10) Read the Sunni Forum FAQ. You shall get the names of some elders. Them you can take as examples. (11) Finally the serious point. Comparing various people of Allah is against ikhlas so we should avoid it. (12) Even if you accept above statement it will leave you thirsty. Well you can ask questions like who are the elders in and around Upper Volta. Then people with come with some names. That perhaps will be of some help. (13) Many great Walis have been discussed here. You have to browse. And Allah Most High knows better. Wassalam |

![]() There is a sense of not insisting upon committing sins that is implied. This is a subtle point so it is not usually inserted in the statements. And indeed it is an essential point too so ![]() Wassalam |
