I think about this regularly, but cant seem to find the answer. Some people say read salaah, quran, make zikr etc. and you will feel the connection. I can't feel it. Sometimes during salaah I feel extreme calmness and total ease, but I still cant see or feel the connection.
I guess what I am talking about is an overwhelming closeness or attachment that makes me want to do more, read more salaah, quran or zikr. A sense of connection that will make me stop any evil deeds in its tracks. Does it or can it exist? Can we get to such a state?? I suppose this might require answering by someone very knowledgeable in deen, perhaps a sheik or someone. Any assistance from the layman would also be appreciated. Jzk |

![]() One way to build connection is to increase on following the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him, as much as possible. Say (O Prophet): “If you really love Allah, then follow me, and Allah shall love you and forgive you your sins. Allah is Most-Forgiving, Very-Merciful.” (3:31) Also, increase on the voluntary worship. The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and grant him peace) said that Allah Most High said, “No means whereby My servant seeks My Favour are more pleasing to Me than the observance of the fard actions (such as Salah, Zakah, Sawm, Hajj etc.). My servant keeps coming closer to Me with nafl actions, until I make him My favourite, and when I make him My favourite, I become his ears with which he hears, his eyes with which he sees, his hands with which he holds, and his feet with which he walks. If he asks Me for something, I fulfill his desire, or if he seeks refuge against anything, I grant him refuge.” (Al-Bukhari) In addition, help other creations to get connected with the Creator, and inshaAllaah your connection with the Creator will become strong. Wallaahu A'lam. ![]() |

Sometimes during salaah I feel extreme calmness and total ease, but I still cant see or feel the connection. As you have stated that "during salaah I feel extreme calmness" is no small achievement, you would be surprised at some things other people feel or their descriptions about Salat. For each person Allah S.W.T has a plan and we should be patient "Inna Allaha ma'a as Sabirin" There are no shortcuts, only a pure heart and Ibadah with sole intention to seek for Ridha Allah should be your concern. Every person's Aqidah and relationship with Allah S.W.T is unique, our duty is to follow the Sunnah of our beloved prophet s.a.w as the other brother mentioned and leave the rest to Allah S.W.T. My best wishes to you, May Allah S.W.T grant you Istiqamah and Sabr. Masalam PS: As my favorite Shaikh rahimullah said "For he who seeks a prescribed path to come before his Lord is doomed to land in hell for those that do come before their Lord do so perplexed and bewildered" (not ad verbum) |

![]() One very effective way is to have contact with the pious lovers of Allah.. someone who when you see you are reminded of Allah, someone who when they talk to you or even write to you, you feel like doing more, becoming better, leaving sins, and loving Allah Ta'aala and His Rasool ![]() |

He mentions it is like visiting an ittar shop. You will probably buy some ittar and use it regularly and derive benefit on a daily basis, if you don't buy any the shop owner may apply some on your clothes and atleast for that whole day you will be smelling very nice, and if that also does not happen atleast you will enjoy the fragrances for a few minutes or hours while you are in the store. So the benefit of associating with the pious is definetly there. |

I once heard a narration of a pious person who mentioned the benefits of sitting in the company of the pious. ![]() The above analogy is mentionedin a hadith. Another thing which has not been mentioned here is to make the increase of worship (whether remembrance, recital of Qur'an, Salawaat, istighfar) regular. The most benefit is from regular forms of worship. It is better to do istighfar 70 times daily (for example) than 70,000 times in one day and then stop. ![]() |

Assalaamu 'alaykum Warahmatullaah
Many helpful replies masha Allah. If I may add something which is constantly mentioned by our Shaykh is that a close connection can be felt with Allah subhaanahu wata'ala when one refrains from every disobedience..be it a minor disobedience or major, apparant/physical or internal to do with the heart.....mujaahadah (struggle) against it will increase the connection/closeness in leaps and bounds insha Allah. |

Sometimes during salaah I feel extreme calmness and total ease, but I still cant see or feel the connection. The reality of the five daily prayers, which are like a sort of Ascension, are a being received into the presence of the All-Glorious One of Beauty, the Beauteous One of Glory, Who is the True Object of Worship, as an instance of pure mercy. Declaring “God is Most Great!” (Allahu Akbar!), it is to traverse the two worlds either in fact, or in the imagination, or by intention, be divested of the restrictions of materiality, pass to a universal degree of worship or a shadow or form of universality, and being honoured with a sort of presence, it is to manifest the address of “You alone do we worship!” (everyone according to his own capacity); it is a most elevated attainment. The repetition of “God is Most Great! God is Most Great!” in the actions of the prayers indicates rising through the degrees of spiritual progress, and ascending from minor particulars to universal spheres, and is a concise title of the perfections of Divine sublimity which are beyond our knowledge. It is as if each “God is Most Great!” indicates traversing a step in the Ascension. To attain to a shadow or a ray of this reality of the prayers either in fact, or by intention, or with the imagination, is a great happiness. From: http://www.lightofquran.info/16word.htm |

Sometimes during salaah I feel extreme calmness and total ease, but I still cant see or feel the connection. Besides salah, the thing that helps me to remember the connection with Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, is to open my eyes and realize the beauty of the things Allah has created. Hikes in the forest or desert, a kayak ride in the ocean - all these things rejuvenate and recharge. Think of where our beloved prophet Muhammad, salallahu 'alaihi wa sallam, was when he received his first message. He was alone, reflecting, thinking, concentrating in a part of nature that inspired him. Many of the prophets, peace and blessings on them all, sought a spiritual refuge in the beauty of nature. I read a hadith once- perhaps someone can remind me of the source and details - that said there will come a time when good men will retreat to the mountains with their sheep in order to escape the corruption of the world. My point is that perhaps a retreat of sorts will help you to realize/remember that we are connected to Allah. From Him we come and to Him we return. And stopping evil in its tracks is a good thing but so is promoting and doing good. Another suggestion would be to work with people who are less fortunate than you - orphans, refugees, homeless, disabled, etc. |

Ans: Intention.
Yes Intent everything we do as it is for Allah. Common mistake we make is that we intent only Salath, fasting etc to Allah. Things we do the most such as eating, working, studying etc We mostly do with the intent to satisfy ourselves. Like the Sahabah did, I think we should intent all this for Allah. Well eg: If we ask ourselves 'why do we eat?' the answer would be:' to give us energy and healthy.' I think we should modify this answer to 'I eat to be energetic any healthy so that I can do my Salath properly and for the energy to worship Allah.' Similarly 'why do I work?' Ans: 'To make money So that I can spend it in the way of Allah, to take care of my family as Allah has commanded.' And So on. We should convert the intention of every Halal deed we do in the way of Allah. Everything should be 'Fisabeelillah' (in the path of Allah). This way we wont turn into zombies enslaved to the modern life trying to achieve obscure goals in life, But rather we will start built a connection with Allah. InshAllah. P.s. The best way to do this is to say 'Bismillahir-rehmanir-raheem' before you do all good things. Its significance is immense. |

![]() (1) A person having a close connection with Allah will be called his friend. That is Wali. There is only one condition to be a Wali. To give up sins. (Additional info: A Wali is one who does not commit Major sins and does not insist upon minor sins.) (2) To increase the stature further, to be a greater Wali, indulge in obedience, that is, do acts of obedience. (3) There is still an higher stature to Wali. Wali is a friend. Ibraheem Khaleelullah (AS) means that Hazrat Ibraheem (AS) is a friend of Allah. The higher stature is of beloved. That is Habeeballah (PBUH). So to go rise even further you should indulge in those acts that resemble the actions of Noble Prophet (PBUH). So that we start resembling him. These actions are Sunnah. Naqsh-e-qadam Nabi (PBUH) ke hain jannat ke raaste, Allah se milate hain sunnat ke raaste. Foot steps of Prophet(PBUH) is the route to Jannah The path of Sunnah leads you to Allah (Hakim Akhtar Sb (DB)) Wassalam |
