Default The Eyebrow Issue for sisters
Salamu alaikum wr wb,

According to authentic hadith, I found out recently within the past year that plucking eyebrows is haram as well as plucking the eyebrows of other women. However it seems like the majority of sisters do it. When I read the hadith that said the woman who does this is cursed, I decided to stop touching my eyebrows, its such an easyway to avoid the hellfire, even though it may be a little difficult due to our concern with our looks. but Allah always compensates those who give up something they love to do for the sake of Allah. Alhumdulillah, I love my eyebrows and they are the perfect shape alhumdulillah, as I'm sure many sisters' eyebrows are if they would only realize it.

To this sisters, I just want to know the answer to this question: Why do you or other sisters do it? Is there another scholarly interpretation of this hadith that says its ok? Or do many women not know that this hadith exists? Subhanallah its everywhere and I don't understand why someone would keep doing it after knowing that the Prophet (SAW) said they are cursed if they do it?

Asalamualikum,
if you travel to the arab world you will not see many women who dont have plucked eyebrows . i think they follow the hadith of Hazrat Aisha ra. I am not sure about the exact hadith , i think it is sahih , it is about women beautifying themselves for their husband even if they have to burn themselves with a hot iron, i cant remember exactly but i hope more knowledgeable forum members will correct me . well this is what one Arab women told me .

I think it means pleasing the husbands in a 'Halal' ways. The concept of beauty is relative. Now being slim is beautiful a hundred years back that wasn't. So i don't it is necessary to shape ones eyebrows when it is clearly forbidden.
Allah knows best.

Aisha RA never transgressed the words of her husband the Prophet SAW, it is authentic that the Prophet SAW said that the woman who plucks her eyebrows, gets tattoos, artificially files her teeth, or wears false hair is cursed. So beautification for our husbands should be done for our husbands, on parts of our body that only our husband will see. In the case of beautifying the face, makeup does the job, and it can be removed when we go outside where non-maharam men will see our faces. Im sure Aisha RA did not tell women they may pluck their eyebrows after the Prophet SAW told us it was forbidden. If she did say that, it means beautification by any means WITHIN the limits of Shariah in Quran and the Prophet SAW instrucitons
