Default The Prophet's (PBUH) life as a trader
Assalamu Alaykum,

How much do we know about the Prophet's (PBUH) early life as a trader. Do we know, for example, where exactly he went or what the trade routes were at that time? Could anybody refer me to a book/site which has some detail?

wa salam

Rasulallah (Allah bless him and grant him peace) was well traveled in the Middle East. The seerahs should contain a little about trade routes. Martin Lings talks about where the Christian monks met the Prophet. I do not know where you can find very detailed information though.

I just checked Muhammad Husayn Haykal's " The life of Muhammad" but he has devoted only a few pages to this subject. Not much details can be found in the "Seerah" of Ibn Ishaq and Ibn Hasham as well.I doubt that we have a much detailed authentic account of the specific era. Ibn kathir's Seraatun Nabi might help as that is much detailed.
